excellent choice, but I think to truly master alcohol you should stop at 6.

If you don't master alcohol, alcohol will master you - lol

NZ Steinlager seems to be a rather tame beer, at 5% ABV. Belgian beers are around the 12% ABV mark.

Another strong ale I rather like is Barley Wine. They can come in at around the 12% ABV mark too. I remember drinking nine of those (1/3 pint bottles) once, thus beating my friend who only drank eight. I spent all night waiting outside the loo (to throw up), because he was in the loo (throwing up).

What's the weather like there?

Yesterday it was 37C here. When its hot you drink a lot. You can't drink a slab of 12% beer at the cricket and walk back the the car - lol

Gosh... you saying that reminded me of some details of the occasion. It had indeed been a blisteringly hot day (which means anything above 10C here). We weren't working at the same place, but had just coincidentally met up on the way back after work. The drinking was just due to us being vaguely bored as we walked past a pub in the sweltering(sic) heat. Neither of us could make up our minds what to drink, at first, then we decided on pints (3 bottles at a go) of Barley Wine.

I spent forty years building up to being drunk every night.
I stopped drinking two (or is it three?) years ago, for no significant reason.
I have a drink every month or so.
I've been drunk maybe four times in the last two (3?) years.
No big deal.
I don't think I'm typical.

That looks like some steller beer man. I live right near this beer store that has all this fancy stuff from all over the world, I dont recall ever seeing that, but I too love quality beer.

I think you made a find choice!

yeah.

I don't like to get drunk anymore. When I was a young whipersnapper - lol - like RB, I got drunk all the time. Now I hate hangovers or worse, vomitting.

I was wondering, do you non-antipodeans get beer in slabs? Do you know what a slab is?

Boozy Benson man avoids jail
By Tim Hobden
Comment

A Benson man has avoided jail after he admitted being drunk on an aeroplane.

Owen Goddard, 29, of Littleworth Road, swore at passengers and crew after he mixed Valium and alcohol before he boarded a flight from Bangkok to Heathrow in May.

Goddard, who suffers from Aspergers Syndrome, was sentenced to a 12 month community order, 12 months psychiatric care and ordered to do 80 hours unpaid work at Isleworth Crown Court on Friday.

I can drink 12 beers without getting drunk (if the surroundings are hot enough, that is). 8)

Ah, more of a vodka man myself, I've always been able to drink a fair bit of that.

And stout is good, Guinness for the win!
