Any time someone asks me what I want, I draw a blank. Now as I think about it, I would love to get historical fiction books, a bamboo rice steamer, embroidery floss, or another bath robe. But when Mom actually asked what I wanted, I couldn't think of anything, as usual. Guess who ends up getting gift cards every year? :)

Why? 8O

There's this book out by Francis Crick that I would like. And maybe a new journal. That's about it.

Holidays make me nauseous:/

I can't find anything remotely positive about them.

To each their own.

Me, I just want to enjoy myself. I tried asking for no presents this year but failed (money's really tight for my family and I didn't want to be a burden)... So I'm going to enjoy myself being the wallflower at the family gathering, chatting with my many siblings while getting at the food.

It's all about everyone having lists of things they want. How ridiculous is that? I would much rather exchange homemade goods like pies and handicraft with my family, but they are horribly petty and self-centered.

Sickening. Image

And to whoever posted a list here - are you aware that these things just don't *materialize* and someone has to actually *buy* them with money they've worked hard for??? Why even bother waiting for a particular day to issue a list of demands? I don't get it.

My list is comprised of things I'd like to get for myself, actually, I certainly don't expect them to materialize magically. And a few funny items just for the sake of humor...

I'll agree as much as I think people lose sight of the spirit of giving and receiving and get too wrapped up in the materialism of it, wanting too much and needing to always have more. The commercials for huge diamond rings and Lexus cars really disturb me, because they seem to send the message that a guy isn't good enough unless he comes up with some mind-blowing, uber expensive gift for his significant other. The winter holiday shouldn't be about going into debt over an excuse to over-spend.

But it's neat to think of things we'd like to have, as long as it remains a wish list and not a demand list.

i know seriously...i would certainly not feel overexcited and uber joy if someone gave me a big diamond necklace. i want something has greater meaning than an expensive gift...like a gift that came from the heart. does anyone understand what i'm saying?

i'd not be greatly distressed if i didn't get any of the things on the list i posted here.
