Ah! I despise using the phone for communicating.

It's like a phobia i guess. :?
The ringing of a phone is one of the most terrible sounds, whenever i hear it i want to scream.
I already don't like talking for long lengths of time and many people love to talk on the phone for hours!
The only people I can stand to talk to are my mom and my best friend (and with her it's like me just listening. not saying a word. sometimes not one word for hours at a time!)
It's like i just can't say anything, my mouth won't let me. I become stiff and quiet and terrified.

I especially hate talking to people i don't know or that I don't talk to often in person. I get so nervous in these situations, sometimes having to hang up no matter what.

I love those services were there are recordings and you don't have to speak to an actual person (life savers truly).

I have a cell phone, but never use it. It drives my friends crazy and they often ask why i don't like it. No one seems to understand my problem with phone conversations. They all think I'm not serious or that i'm just being difficult.

I much prefer the internet or text messaging. *sigh* Beautiful ways of communicating.

phone hell might just be the whole torturous epic of...technical support.....somewhere there are demons mocking me with every recorded message and every option number to press. in the end i just freak out and start pressing all the numbers with # # # # and ***** and finally get to speak to someone after waiting for 20 minutes on hold listening to the electronic version of Can't Touch This, over and over...

and over.

I don't like to answer the phone, much less talk on it. I do like chatting with strangers on internet forums, strange.

Talking on the phone is boring and I get nervous and impatient. The only thing I look froward to on the phone is hanging up so I can get back to what I was doing!

I find talking on tthe phone uncomfortsble. I prefer using the computer to talk to people. Less social contact that way and less stressful. Plus you get more time top think and plan responses. -Power Girl

I prefer telephone conversations, because since I have a cell phone, I can leave my dorm if I need to, and still be able to talk to someone--whereas with IM, I can't leave my dorm.

I can't carry a conversation in person much less on the phone. I can't think of interesting things to say to the other person. Then there are the ones that go on and on about stuff I don't care about while I just go, "Mmm-hmm...mm-hmm...mm-hmm..." for twenty minutes. It's nerve-wracking for me and I just plain don't like it.

OMG no I don't like talking on the phone. It pains me greatly. I'm no good at the give and take, I talk all over people, I struggle with turn-taking...it's awful. It's a source of stress for me.

Heh. My least favorite is when I send an email, and then the recipient calls me and says, "Hey! I got your email!"
Much of the time, I don't even answer it!

I don't like it at all. Sometimes I have some trouble processing the sounds into language. Especially when there are other things going on around me. It sounds as if they are speaking clearly, but in a completely foreign language, so I have to ask them to speak slower and repeat themselves a few times before I can pick out words and piece them into sentences. Makes for tiring conversation. Very odd.

I spend 8.75 hours a day on the telephone. that is 38.75 hours a week. I take from 30 to 80 calls a day. I investigate health insurance claims.

I refuse to use my cell phone, and will only use it for emergencies ( I have had it for two years and havn't had an emergency that I needed it yet) and for voice mails from medical providers 'reminding' me of appointments.

I find dual earphones helps me with hearing my own voice back through them helps me concentrate on what I am saying. I can't hear my own dulcet tones back through the hand held cell phone, so I am frustrated beyond belief.

So it is not so much I like the phone, as it is I love to talk.

Merle

The telephone is the evil instrument of evil.

some days the ringing of a phone is enough to make me want someone to shoot me in the head to put me out of my misery.

what I hate most is how demanding and invasive and unpredictable ringing phones are.

Most of my friendships die because I can't pick up the phone.
