Lanterns, candles, backdoor bbqs, coffee on the campstove (outdoors of course)

I tend to go nuts with the cold...when I cant get to my stimming bath or get my hands under hot/warm water of the sink (the things we do when their taken away).

Last time....I painted a couple of huge horrible paintings.

Kind of hard to post while in a hurricane, isn't it?

The power hasn't gone out where I live for several years now.

Usually, I light some candles, get my torch out of the cupboard and turn on my battery powered emergency radio. It is quite relaxing to listen to classical music and read or write by the candle light. In fact, I may do it soon even with out the blackout.

I'll just make sure my windows are covered so the ARP warden dosen't fine me. In fact, I'll make a run to my Anderson shelter in the back garden.

Whoops, wrong era, and I live in a block of flats anyway, so no back garden!

The power goes out here quite a bit, so we have a generator. If the cable isn't also out we normally plug in the downstairs TV by the wood stove to entertain ourselves & keep warm. If the cable is out the 360 and my laptop(w/o internet, unfortunately) are my top picks.
We also occasionally go to my grandmother's house if it is the weekend/no school, work for parents, so we can have running water.

Simple, I have these activities I can do with no power:

Read
play portable game devices
Listen to music on my CD player
Do Puzzles
Play some board games
Play with my toys
Color

Electricity is the enemy!

Its the devils blood!

we dont NEED it like air and water!

batteries? eh!

rechargable phones computers and video games? EVIL

We'll never have silence again

TOO MUCH SCREAMING MEAT!

If my power went off I'd probably sit with the aqaurium bubbler blowing into it untill I passed out.
Used to read play with toys, draw.
Back in high school solar powered flashlights used to be a joke.

if the power goes off, I stay on the internet until my UPS gives out, then I go on IRC on my mobile phone (while in-between calling the electricity distribution company to find out when the hell they are going to fix it), then when that gives out I generally curse a lot because I don't have a spare battery

thankfully lack of electricity doesn't stop me having a cup of tea, we have a gas cooker and if the electricity is out we light it with a lighter

we haven't had a power cut in a long time now :)

woohoo! :D

Ironically the power lines are right behind our house though the supply comes in underground

I arm, take cover, and brace for the impending ninja attack, zombie invasion, or demon incursion.

I'll bet you think I'm joking, don't you?

Good fortune,

We used to have power outages all the time in the trailer park where I live because management was too cheap to install proper equipment and every time it got hot and people turned on their air conditioners the power would go out. And nobody knew how to get ahold of the power company except the manager and he was never around when it happened. So everyone would come out of their houses and stand around in the street all pissed off, it was quite entertaining, better than TV. Didn't happen much in the winter, thank God. Finally management upgraded the equipment and since then it hasn't been so fun.

we lost power for about 20 or so hours wednesday night into thursday afternoon. That night we bundled up the baby and she slept with us in bed to keep her warm. Before my wife and I went to bed, we watched a couple of movies on my portable DVD player. The Family Guy Star Wars special and The Exorcist. The next day, we went to the in-laws to stay warm and to take a shower. No biggie.

I was wondering what you do during blackouts to stay entertained.

no clue
it usually happens during the day
or night, when its time to go to bed
i'll play gameboy, if i still feel like staying up though :D
