i am,
i have a personality
that likes fun
and so i'm perceived as ret*d
and its hard for me to 'concentrate', 'express', or show my intelligence
but if you pay attention you can definately see it
(edit: unless you are ret*d, blinded, or have a biased opinion)

Regardless of diagnosis (or lack of), I don't think anyone appreciates being called ret*d.

Most people use the word without knowing it's true meaning anyway.

I've heard people say things such as..."That store sign is so ret*d,".

Whenever I have a hard time with something, especially at work, and anyone else is involved I just say "hey, whatta ya expect. I'm a f#ckin' ret*d!" They have nowhere to go from there since I've said it for them. Usually it's taken as humor anyway and I don't care.
I accuse people of being ret*d a lot, too.
Understand that the above is ***usually*** in good humor and not all that serious.

though am not aspie,am autie and borderline, aka mild MR,specialists tend to refer to this in am as 'multiple learning difficulties' rather than MR now, though had the mr tag all the way through school.
it's nothing big or bad,am fed up of it being branded as something nasty when it isnt and it doesnt make less of a human either.

if its randomly used against someone,it says more about them, than the person whos being called it.
try not to let words affect seriously, that is what they relie on.

Meh, ret*d is just a word that is frequently misused, there are many of those.

I usually just tell people that say I'm ret*d that they're gaytarded and then we start a one-upping contest on the prefixes to use for -tarded. Sometimes politically correct people just walking by get offended. 8)

Even though I was just diagnosed recently,I learned early, to stay under the radar and avoid attracting attention to myself,at school. I was never called "ret*d",but, if my classmates had known that I had AS, they probably would have. So,I suppose in that respect, I was lucky. :)

To add onto this ret*d thread. I had a girl tell me I wasn't ret*d, just a slow learner which pi**ed me off so f*cking bad. Yet I seem to have excelled in some things she couldn't. Talk about trying to put the label ret*d in a polite way of slow to a person.
