I like lead a lot. It's very useful in many applications, it's just too bad it's poisonous...

...oh wait, you meant music. Never mind.

Hmm, metal...
Well, I don't know much about sub-genres of metal, but here's a few metal bands I enjoy:
Gorgoroth
Dimmu Borgir
Crade of Filth
Metallica (obviously)
Slipknot
Pantera

Hmm, they're probably not the stuff we're interested in, I think some of it is either black metal or stuff that's already mentioned. Ah, well.

Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Metallica ('Ride The Lightning' up until 'Black Album')
Slayer
Mercyful Fate
In Flames
Opeth
Pantera

That's pretty much the only metal I listen to these days.

I absolutely detest most metal bands with screaming vocals now (Opeth and In Flames being exceptions). I'm also not so much of a power metal fan anymore like I used to be.

I think the only metal I listen to these days is MetallicA (progressive metal, kind of), MegadetH (love that thrashy jazzy vibe), Dio and Manowar (the kings of over-the-top theatrical metal, almost to parody levels)...and a lot of bands that aren't quite metal, like Down and Badlands (Southern/bluesy metal)...

I used to listen to PanterA, but not so much anymore =/ I don't really consider Sabbath to be metal, or Van Halen, or anything like that, though...the term "heavy metal" always reminds me of NWoBHM stuff like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest.

Oh, and the first two Ozzy solo albums rock \m/

Or used to rock before they were re-recorded >_<

Kilroy, you'll have to let us know what you think after you've checked out some of the bands that people have recommended! I've noticed that your taste in music is pretty unique, and constantly evolving. So I'm curious as to what direction you'll go in next.

From Genesis to Pink Floyd to T Rex to Black Sabbath to . . . :?:

Venom are cult! Even though their satanic lyrics are so much over the top nobody should take it seriously, but guess that just makes it enjoyable (contrary to the bands like Mayhem who seem to really mean it)

About Cradle of Filth: I like their studio material but I was very disappointed when I saw them live. They played so heavily and Dani screamed so loud that it was getting hard to recognise the songs like they were played on album. But I do enjoy their studio material such as Her Ghost In The Fog, From The Cradle To Enslave, Nymphetamine, ...

I am the only Orphaned Land fan apparently? :(

I know! I completely agree about Venom! Hilariously over the top yet they rock so hard (*carefully avoids saying "brutal"*). Have you seen any live footage of them? I saw this one DVD of a show from the 80's. That German guitar player is so weird and silly! They used cheap, crappy gear, but I never seem to notice that when I listen to one of their records at full volume!

Oh, and Mayhem rock too, from what I've heard of them. But obviously, one of the main reasons people buy their records is because of that crazy murder/cannibalism story.
