Who says I "need" a substance?

i would have to say no, it does not make one smarter. it just suppressed certain parts of your sensory apertures and enhances other parts, but all in all it dulls the mind for sure..

To me you must be dumb to take it in the first place.

'Recrational' drugs and alcohol are both a complete waste of time for me. I don't need to take them to be happy.

weed is good in moderation. if you overdo it it kills your neurons by millions and makes your memory very very bad. not to mention it can cause psychosis.

alcohol (wine especially) has more health benefits but it's fatality rate is much higher because it's so addictive and so easily obtained.

Not true: http://www.peak.sfu.ca/the-peak/2005-3/ ... ne-mj.html

Short term memory loss is true, but it is not permanent. There is no evidence that marijuana actually causes psychosis. It's correlated with triggering dormant psychosis, but that's a small correlation.

The term dope comes from heroin originally, actually.

I'm not saying it's worse, it just messes up your brain insted of other body parts like other substances. I don't know about you but I'd take a liver transplant instead of a psychosis any day Wink

It messes your body up a lot less than you think it does. The only thing I can think of is chronic bronchitis, which isn't even close to a guarantee. Much of what we consume in our food is much more dangerous.

And because getting shot is less harmful than getting nuked means you should do it, right?

Chances are, you already have habits that are more dangerous than cannabis.

Marijuana should be legal, and everybody under the sun should try it. If it's good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for everyone barring those who are allergic.

Oh I've tried it, and I didn't see what all the fuss what about to be quite honest.

i've read about a study that showed IQ dropped a few points in marijuana users, i think it was up to 10pts with chronic users, but it went back up to normal once they stopped using. the only really bad thing about marijuana is the smoking aspect, it can cause the same harm as smoking cigarettes, but this can be avoided with vaporizers or brownies.

It is not the same harm as smoking cigarettes. Marijuana is not linked to cancer in the same manner; it's anti-cancerous.

I don't trust IQ tests anyways. I can see how somebody who is high would be affected on that sort of test, but that doesn't mean they can't function well if not better in other ways.

Smoking marijuana probably causes cancer
smoking marijuana is definitely NOT anti-cancerous. smoking any plant is bad for your lungs and will probably increase your risk of mouth, throat and lung cancer.

and the IQ tests weren't done while they were high, they'd probably be a hell of a lot lower if that's how they were tested. they tested people who smoke marijuana on a regular or semi-regular basis. it's been pretty widely recognized that marijuana decreases short term memory, and that's probably where the biggest drop comes from, but for most of them it jumped back up after they stopped. now these were younger people, so we're not talking about years and years of chronic use, which could very well cause permanent damage, especially to older brains.
