Never had a Mac but they seem okay.
I think it's easiest to have Windows because most people do so most stuff is made for Windows and might not work on other things.
dont need to be very good with computers to get linux installed/working unless have got difficult hardware that is not supported though is unlikely now, download WUBI:

it will install any main version of ubuntu into the windows partition,cant mess it up like can with installing it manually.
though ubuntu [from official disc] is near enough as easy to install as windows.
