I've heard Boris mentioned a few times while I was browsing bands, as I recall, though I've never picked anything up by them. What album by them would you recommend as a good place to start?

The last CD I bought was Weezer; I can't remember the name of the album but it was the blue one from 1994.

I've never bought a cassete tape, eight track, or record.

Woah...I have to check that out 8O Indifferent towards Hall, but I love me some Fripp.

According to the liner notes of Fripp's "God Save the Queen" (which is part of my vinyl collection), "Sacred Songs" marks the first recorded appearance of Frippertronics. SS was also the first in what Fripp intended to be a "Middle of the Road" trilogy, along with "Peter Gabriel II" & Fripp's own "Exposure." But the release of SS was delayed until 1980, so it ended up being the third release. (Fripp was a special interest of mine, beginning in about 1978.) :)

Pink, Akuma No Uta, or Boris Heavy Rocks are all excellent places to start.

Check this out.

I really need to check out the rest of Fripp's solo stuff. Exposure's the only one I've heard, and I had trouble listening to it because I'd always end up putting Here Comes the Flood on repeat.

Speaking of which, I finally "got" Sacred Songs the other day, and listened to it last night...really digging it =) NYCNY is probably my favorite on it, almost sounds like something Crimson with Wetton would've done.

Really got me bummed that this is the only album they did (plus those few songs on Exposure), I like it a lot...it's got a very Peter Gabriel II sound to it. It almost makes me want to check out what else Hall has done (I'm really not familiar with him at all), but I get the feeling that Fripp, Levin, Eno, and Collins had a lot to do with the quality of this one =/

Oh, Exposure's his only solo album =(

Gonna see if I can find those two Roches albums he did, they sound interesting.

Five more days before I can update this \m/

Happily, Fripp has recorded a number of solo albums. If you like Frippertronics, you might enjoy "God Save the Queen/Under heavy Manners" (1981) and he also fronted what he called "second-division touring new wave instrumental dance band," called the League of Gentlemen - which released an album in 1981. Other than that, he did a lot of collaborative work - check his Wikipedia page.

I highly recommend the Roches (he produced their first, self-titled album & played on one of the songs on their 3rd album - "Keep On Doing.") Their harmonies are sensationally quirky. =)

I've only ever bought two CD's in my life and both of them were present for family members, they were:

Clocks(i think that's the name of it)- for my sister, and Death Magnetic- for my dad.

The last 8-track I bought was one with Elvis's christmas songs I got for my mother back in the late 70's at a local thrift store as a kid, It was either in 77 or 78.

Last vinyl, I believe it was either Journey-escape or REO Speedwagon... early 80's.

Last cassette- doobie brothers greatest hits, a few years ago.

last CD, I do not remember...

I was looking at Wikipedia, it said all his other albums were live, so I just assumed they were KC.
