I'm probably incorrect but I was under the impression that dirty blonde, or "dishwater blonde", was used to describe blonde hair that had streaks of darker and lighter tones. My hair colour doesn't have streaks but instead naturally gradually goes from dark at the top to light at the bottom.

Strawberry blonde, but more red than blonde. It gets lighter in the summer since I spend a lot of time at the community pool.

Anyway, until about age nine, I had very platinum blonde hair. I was the only blonde kid in class after a while. After that, it turned into dark blonde, almost brown. But when I was about sixteen, it started getting lighter and started getting a red tint to it. Apparently, my aunt's hair had done the same thing (before she bleached it blonde). Funny thing is, I'm not even Irish! lol

When I was a small child my hair was blonde and I thought it still was up to a point in primary school where I was told it was now brown, and I have decided to pay more attention. It is now a dark brown, that is unless it is in the sun where it appears to have a redish tinge to it, but my beard and mustache have more red in them and I wonder if people think I dye my hair as my beard and mustache don't match my hair.
