His wife Helena Bonham Carter said he was. Here's an excerpt from an article I read about it:

"Tim Burton may be autistic - according to his long-term partner Helena Bonham Carter. The 'Charlie and the Chocolate' director has some of the symptoms of Asperger's syndrome - a form of autism - because he is highly intelligent but lacks in social skills, according to the actress. "We were watching a documentary about autism and he said that's how he felt as a child. Autistic people have application and dedication. You can say something to Tim when he's working and he doesn't hear you. But that quality also makes him a fantastic father, he has an amazing sense of humour and imagination. He sees things other people don't see" Helena, who has acted in four of her partner's films, recently starred in a TV movie in which she plays the mother of four autistic children."

EDIT: Whoops! I typed this comment before I hit play on your video, obviously you already encountered this quote. :)

I love his work. I didn't like Alice In Wonderland much until I watched his version of it. I love his interpretation of the ideas. I love his Cheshire cat and Mad Hatter.

I'm not sure if Tim Burton is on the spectrum or not, but I do know one thing for sure: I love his movies so much that they have been my primary special interest for the past year, and they have also spun off into lots of secondary interests as well. My all-time favorite Tim Burton movies are Alice in Wonderland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands and Sweeney Todd.

To answer your question: YES, he probably DOES have Aspergers. At least HE himself thinks so, and so does his long-time partner, Helena Bonha-Carter.

Quoting this article:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... urton.html

Quote:
But she believes that his silence goes beyond shyness. In an interview a couple of years ago, given to promote a drama about the mother of autistic boys, she said: 'While making this drama, I realised he has a bit of Asperger's in him.

'You start recognising the signs. We were watching a documentary about autism and he said that was how he felt as a child.
f Helena Bonham-Carter starring in film, Planet of the Apes (2001)

'People with Asperger's Syndrome have application and dedication. You can say something to Tim when he's working and he doesn't hear you. But that quality also makes him a fantastic father. He has an amazing sense of humour and imagination, he sees things other people don't see. Billy is enchanted by him.'

I believe he has it, too. It has always been pretty obvious, I think.

I read he does. I also remember someone saying over at AFF they met Johnny Depp and he said he doesn't have it but he has traits of it but Tim Burton however does.

I have read rumors about Johnny Depp having it but according to himself he does not and only has traits of it.

TIm burton and quitin tarentino are the poster childs for aspergers in hollywood.

It's alot more common in entertainment than most people think.

It's really my pet peeve about common perception.

Aspies can fly under that radar if there special interest are of a social nature.

Of course your never gonna here of these public figures acknowledge it. It's worst than being openly gay.

It's a scientific reason why you may be incompetent or atleast you'll be told that by public relations fellow.

Or worst yet it's something that can be exploited by your competition.

There's also a powerful stigma, with most people when considering the disorder. It's such a threatening thing to so many people.

Unless Tim Burton (not his wife!) comes out himself and says he, himself, has autism, I'm not going to believe it. There are a lot of reasons why people might relate to the experience of autistic children, and not all of those reasons are even related to having a similar disability.
