I've had odd things happen with my mail, at times. Once, I had borrowed two books from my sister who lives 45 minutes away. I decided to mail them back to her, since I didn't know when I would be over there next. She never received them, and a month later, I receive the large envelope I'd mailed the books in, inside another envelope, with an apology from the Post Office, calling it "rifling". I couldn't do anything about it, since I didn't think to insure the books. One was a gift, too. Lots of times, I see where somebody tried to rip open an envelope, or a corner of a package, as well.
