I think I'll become a meatatarian. After all, I shouldn't hurt those poor plants. Unlike animals, they can't run away or defend themselves.

I HATE people who do that! It's like they assume that because I am a vegetarian, I will be offended that someone is eating a ham sandwich in front of me. And then I actually AM offended by the assumption that I will be offended, if that makes sense.

I am certainly not a preachy vegetarian. In fact, I try not to mention it at all if possible, because people pick on me for it. I didn't even tell people at my new school, but someone's cousin from my old school told them, and know everyone knows and has added it to the long list of reasons to hate me (also featuring the fact that I wear a skirt instead of trousers, and that day I disinfected everything I touched to prevent the spread of swine flu).

This has probably been said, but the NTs (nastily tormenting) should just check their own frozen attitudes...

Gina... we'll go to a bar-b-que, I'll relish the ribs, you chow down the corn with relish.

I have never tried a vegetarian but i would imagine that because of there diet they taste slightly different than meat eaters.

Really though i do not mind, what other people eat is really non of my business, why should it bother me?

I think I might fancy someone well pickled in a nice vintage red...

I don't much care what anyone eats, as long as they wash their own dishes.... Oh, and it's dead first. Must be dead...

My good friend taunts me to no end for eating any animal products. I simply do not posses his willpower and lead a decadant lifestyle where I am surrounded by a variety of foods. He is a gaunt vegan...I am a chunky lacto ovo who slips up occasionally. I tell myself I will try to do better...but the little fishes like to jump into my mouth...Also..when I went for years without eating fish, my short term memory got so bad i felt like I had Alsheimer's and I was in my early 20's.

I respect him for what he is, but I also worry, as he is pretty severly underweight...and I feel bad and like I am deceiving him any time I slip up and eat an animal product...and since I am trying not to eat animal products..my other partner likes to taunt me into eating animal products...and then goes and snitches to my good friend that I occasionally eat meat...

Vegetarians/vegans are found to be high and mighty because most of the ones you know are are the ones that say it a lot, and go on about how awesome it is.

Peta for example.

Pointless thread.
Dislike Vegetarians
Dislike Vegans
Dislike NT's
Dislike Aspies
Dislike Auties
Dislike ret*ds (I know, I know)
Dislike women
Dislike men
Dislike, etc (just examples of things people dislike)

Talk to them and say that you value their opinion, but you will not change your mind. Then let them be

I am a vegetarian on the basis, I don't eat meat, but I don't judge anyone else for eating meat.

This. I wholeheartedly agree.

If you leave me be, I'll leave you be.
If you act like a prick around me, regarding this subject, I will let you know what I think of you.

I usually only tell people about my diet if they actually show any interest and ask me about it.

And you can't hold it against me if I lash out at you with a lame 'you shouldn't eat meat' joke, if you're the one waving meat in front of my face going ' mmmmmm it's so goooood' etc.
It's even worse if you actually think it's funny, 'cause it's not. And you're definitely not being original as I've heard that joke at least once a week for the entire 8 years of me being vegetarian.

Actually all of the jokes (the peta one, the plants have feelings too!, I'll eat two for every 1 you don't eat etc.) are old, beat completely lifeless and never funny to begin with. They sound like they came from the mouth of a failed comedian.

RARRRGH.

[/personal rant]
:D

lol

Anyway,
I agree with everyone who says not to lump all vegetarians/vegans together.
I don't go around saying all 'meat eaters' are stupid, dumb or high and mighty about their diet etc. that would be ridiculous.

It'd be as ignorant as saying, all "Dutch people wear clogs and carry tulips" just because you happened to see a couple like that in real life and perhaps on tv.

There are so many different personalities, attitudes etc. no one is the same and everyone acts differently. You cannot judge someone based on what the other has done.

Humans are not carnivores or herbivores. Carnivores eat ONLY meat. Herbivores eat only plants and vegetables. Humans are Omnivores ...

Yeah, right up there with smug, holier-than-thou, self-righteous prig attitudes of any sort are STUPID JOKES! Gaaaaagh! When I was being assessed I was asked if I 'got' jokes; yes, I understand them, but most of them aren't funny and many of them are downright mean.

One of the great benefits of growing up in a family full of autistic traits... no one indulged in stupid jokes.

Although "omnivore" is itself something of a misnomer. I suppose it's a difficult one, as no omnivore literally eats everything, so the assumption that an omnivore is not in fact an omnivore goes with the word... if that makes sense. "Carnoherbivore" might be a more appropriate word to denote that something eats both meat and veg. 8)

I dislike the common thinking amoung vegetarians that animals would be better off if we didn't eat them, or make nice shiny wallets from them. In truth, if we didn't eat beef, or drink milk, cows would have been extinct a long time ago. If anything, we should be thinking of novel uses for endangered species, so they are farmed and bred sustainably.

I certainly don't disagree with anyone objecting morally to eating meat though, each to their own.

I just don't understand why someone would choose to not eat meat. It's delicious, it's plentyfull and there's nothing like eating a big, medium rare steak with your bare hands and really tasting the blood.

Damn it, I'm hungry now.
