Larger people are more attractive than slender/athletic people in my eyes.

In the long term, almost everything is improving, not getting worse.

Puerto Rico should be the next US state, though statehood for Puerto Rico is likely very low on Congress' priority list.

Statehood for Washington DC will never happen because Washington DC was never intended to be a state at all.

If Puerto Rico won't be the next US state, then Guam should be the next US state.

some smart public policy person needs to figure out a way to limit the amount of firearms ammunition available to most people. that means somehow restricting the general availability of the 50 or so elements that make up ammunition.

I should be able to throw hand grenades in my backyard.

Stuff any tyrant who thinks otherwise; I wouldn't harm anyone. I'll clean up any duds with a HE charge.

Solution to what? We live in the most peaceful era in history. Not to mention that your idea would destroy the world economy for literally no reason at all.

I think governments should not ban guns but increase the legal liability of owning them. If you're irresponsible in keeping your guns or they aren't properly secured and they end up getting used in a crime (by a third party) you should be either heavily fined or be sued to buggery by any resulting victims family. Make guns resemble a legal burden rather than a symbol of freedom and maybe people will see less worth and more risk in owning one.

I can foresee a whole new sector in the insurance industry from this (gun owners liability insurance, maybe the government will even make it compulsory!). I'll be the first person at the stock brokers ready to capitalise on it 8)

If there wasn't any bad in the world, how could we cherish the good (philosophy)? It'd be mundane if everything was roses all the time (the Matrix, man) -- you could say humanity probably wouldn't be where we are due to that very reason (science).

We'd be writing legislation in our own blood banning the saber-tooth as it gnawed on our bones. Exit humanity.
