Yeah. I had the shock of my life this morning when I went to queue up at my usual checkout and it had been replaced by 6 self service machines.

Is your stout nice?

It was, but I'm now onto a bottle of 'Rheinbacher Weissbier', from Aldi of course.

I don't mind self-service in supermarkets, as long as there's still a cashier alternative. I actually quite like the self-service section in our Asda. What I really don't want to see is touchscreen ordering taking over at McDonald's. Their Ashton-u-Lyne branch has done away with face to face ordering, and I've stopped using it.

Yeah I'm totally with you on that one.

Anyway I'm off to bed now.

Night all

Sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite.

I'm drinking a bottle of Aldi's Coffee Stout. It's one of the better offerings from their rather uninspiring range of beers.

I tried Guinness coffee stout a few months back and it was OK but more like alcoholic coffee than a stout. Quite pricey as well.

On the Magners cider again tonight. My neighbour above is being uncharacteristically quiet so I'm taking advantage to do some undistracted (for once!) alcohol enhanced thinking.

I'm now onto a craft beer I bought from Sainsbury's, namely Vocation 'Death By Cherries' (440ml, £3, 4.5% alcohol). These beers are ridiculously expensive, and a lot of them seem like joke products (Christmas Pudding and Vanilla Flavoured Stout, anyone?), but I seem to be as much a mug punter as anyone else in my curiosity about these matters.

I assumed this would be just a glorified alcopop or a variation on a fruit-flavoured cider, but no, it has more in common with those Belgian 'Lambic' fruit beers.

On the can it says: "Only the brave can handle this intense mix of sweet and sour cherries. Its bold flavours will leave even the biggest adrenaline junkie wanting more."

I'm gonna go ride to the beach again and have a couple beers in the sunshine with friends. 8) Bought a 6 pack of Elysian Stardust IPA's last night so I think I'll try one.

It usually lasts me 20 mins then I take a 10 min break before my next pint so 2 pints an hour.

And do you think that works for you?

I usually go out for food when I'm drinking so my drinks probably last me a bit longer when I'm eating.

If I wasn't eating I reckon a pint would last me about 30 to 45 minutes.

I don't think there's any rules about these things as long as you're safe and you're not making yourself sick.

I am having a curry tonight with my beer.

Why do you make your first pint last only 10 mins?

Oh that'll be nice. Spicy or mild?

The food will be good to soak up the beer anyway and I reckon your pints will last longer when you're eating.

Spicy

By the way one of my friends took 1 hour and 20 mins to drink a pint

Do you think that's way to slow?
