Gosh! I'm learning so much lately.

When I was younger I wanted to learn Japanese. Then when I got older and realized that I would never make it in Japan, I have been trying to learn Spanish which is more practical when you live in the US. Unfortunately, for some reason I keep getting Spanish words and Japanese words mixed up in my head.

I wonder if getting languages mixed up is common amongst people who know more than one?

It is as if your brain goes searching in the 'foreign words' file, and if it doesn't find the word in one language, it comes up with it in another language. The more experienced you get, the less it happens.

Also, you don't have to be practical. If you love Japanese then learn it. Even if you never go there, it is so easy these days to download books, TV shows, songs or movies in any language. You are much more likely to do well at a language if you are interested in it, than if you are just doing it for the sake of it.

Whenever I try to learn a new language at home, I can't seem to concentrate.

I am the only male member of my immediate family.

When I was younger I felt as though I instinctively knew what the Chinese people were saying to each other in the chippy.

I used to interpret their conversations for people.

It is quite new, so the number of languages is currently limited, but they are working on more.

I have struggled for years to study at home on my own, but I have been on there for a couple of months, and now study every day, and have just finished the whole Italian course.

I hate it whenever I get hives.

There are times that I feel like a hippie in a war zone when I'm on WP. I can't grasp the logic of being blunt in a way that hurts others. I feel that I'm the polar opposite of most of the people here. I've only had a violent meltdown once in my life when I was in Grade 6. The rest of the meltdowns that I've had were the breakdown types where I cried and tried to get away from people. There are also threads that I don't post in, because there are conflicts that I want to stay out of. There are times that I feel that I'm the only gentle soul here, who wouldn't hurt anyone with my words or my body, or who wouldn't break things out of anger. I don't even know what real anger feels like anymore.
