Or out adventuring with Bridgette. (Not that one needs to exclude the other.)

Sylkat.

Finland is as north as Alaska. If you have ever been there, Alaska, you know what it means when somebody says it is just too damn light to get a night sleep. It is almost midsummer right now, and it is getting lighter and lighter. Another two weeks, then it will start being back to more and more normal, darker and darker. If, however, you have never been outside of California, you would be surprised to see how light it can be outside. It is weird. Imagine the sun being up all night. It doesn't set, it doesn't rise. It just is.

Hmm.... I live south of the Arctic Circle, but I visited rels north of the circle when I was 10 and 12, and I easily adapted to the midnight sun.

Of course, I can always easily sleep, as long as I don't actually have to because I'm getting up at a specific time for something; then I get immediate bout of insomnia. *facepalm*

It's great to have such a reduced need for electric light, we save electricity that way.

Me.
Thank goodness for alarm clocks.

...

It'd be fascinating to see a midnight sun though.
I wonder, in winter is there a midday moon?

Sure. Called the midday darkness, in Sami kaamos.

Murihiku, I'm glad I'm not the only one with that problem.

The town I visited up north was behind some mountains, so to me the midnight sun just looked like normal daylight 24 hours a day. But my father has told me that when one actually does see the midnight sun, it has a reddish hue, and that sure is how it looks in some pics.

I have never experienced polar night. Although winter days are short here in southern Norway, we still see daylight for some hours. It would be nice to experience it at some point.

^ So that's what your avatar is. Nice to know. :)

And nice to see you again, Sylkat. :D It's been a while.

Great photo as well, Krabo. A midnight sun is something I'd like to experience one day, if I can ever get myself all the way up to Europe.

I like the picture, too. It is peaceful and tranquil. -- No, it is not my house, just a stock photo showing the deepest midnight of the midnight sun.

We missed you Sylkat.
