Over the past several months, I've become quite fascinated with Kitsunes.

Less embarrassingly, I secretly like stuff like Vengaboys. I would be ok with this but someone was teasing me over it.

I'm sick of advertising in general showing up on this site.

I'm very happy for Denis Istomin that he won his first match, and hope he wins his second today.

I have intelligence----but I hardly ever show it or indulge it.

I'd rather read about the 1947 Brooklyn Dodgers than about the economics of John Maynard Keynes.

You and I are much the same. I have a lot of intellectual pursuits, but I have athletic ones as well. These days, I would rather read the story of Denis Istomin than read some book I read at the university.

At least we don't have scorn for those who happen to enjoy academic journals and such exclusively.

What I wish----is that people would accept that one might go for the seemingly "banal" in addition to desiring transcendence. There are times when the "banal" could lead, indirectly, to more of an appreciation of "higher" works of literature and philosophy.

My interest in tennis led to me reading Dostoyevsky, because Serbian player Janko Tipsarevic read one of his books. It was weird how that turned out. I don't know what has happened to Janko. He hasn't played in a long time, but I never heard him formally announce his retirement.

Same, I prefer sports. Especially when it comes to writing rather than reading.

People probably think I'm stupid esp based on how I dress etc as well.

I can't really separate sports from politics though.

Just I'd rather write or talk about sport than some dry academic thing.

Do you ever get judgement the other way? Sometimes when I'm talking about football I have to pick my words carefully to avoid using words like 'ethos' because people can be reverse snobs.

I'm currently writing something which I'm not sure is a collection or a poem. All the sections intersect but they needn't and it's quite long.
