Thanks Kazan... there are things I'm good at, but this business of waiting for help in an emergency is not one of them. This powerlessness makes me nuts, I'm worried about pipes freezing, yadda yadda around and around.

I can't even imagine what kind of basket case I'd be without WP right now.

Driving to/from work around people that refuse to follow the common rules of the road. Selfish, disrespectful, and ignorant people.

^^ your existence is a good thing, Ezra. You're funny and insightful. And if I recall, you have described more than a few challenges that you face daily - and that makes you inspiring, as well.

Well, poo, I still have furnace troubles. And about 2 hours of sleep, since I spent most of last night watching multiple space heaters until I was sure they were all cycling safely enough for me to nap.

Um, not spam, but a mild commercial here for Pelonis small space heaters. And Redstone portable radiators. I have a largish home and the LR temp was 68 when I woke up, maintained by all of these gizmos running overnight on Low. Furnace never needed to come on (which was precisely the idea). Electric bill will be bad, but there won't be broken water lines to pay for fixing. Yet, anyway.

Beneficial side effect, I'm punchdrunk from the sleep deprivation, which is making me goofy-happy, and that's soooo much better than being irritable.

So now I'm on standby for emergency service, and I get to play: can Esme get to the store and back before the HVAC tech calls? It could be sooooo much worse.

The blower on my electric furnace just started making a noise like a flat tire. Waited for cycle to end, turned fan on without heat, got same noise, so it's the blower for sure.

I have an emergency call in (had heater tuneup in October, it was fine, but it's 12 years old and this cold snap worked it harder than usual). So now I'm playing the waiting game. Of course, this had to wait until after 5 PM to happen - grrrrrrrrr$$$$$$$$$$grrrrrrrrrr.

I have oil filled radiators in every room and I have two extra emergency backup space heaters that I can put out, but I'm concerned about drawing too much current keeping the place warm without the central heat. I have circuit breakers, but worrying all night about having them trip while I'm asleep won't be any fun. And there's no way I'll be going to sleep anyway, with space heaters running in my LR and kitchen... I'll be up all night watching them.

Gaaaaah grrrrrrrrrrrrr.....

I'm also worried that they'll come out and won't have the part they need. I don't know thing one about blower mechanics, but the noise is a regular slap-type sound, like a belt is going bad. I hope that's what it is, and that's all it is, and they have a spare.

Aspie catastrophizing, I know, but experience has taught me to, sadly.

(I know, I know, it's much better to have this happening now than during the 7F with -5F windchills we just had, but it'd be even better not to have it happening at all. Grrrrrrrrrrrrr.)

hugs. I am frustrated for you too. I hope they get it sorted out for you soon.

^^ Thanks. Still waiting, but relieved; got through the night just fine, and it'll be 50F outside quite soon today.

Enjoy your coffee with company!

Some selfish, self centered JERK trying to foist his inner psychological CRAP on ME simply because he didn't like what I had to say. :x

That makes me think of Il Ducci whom currently sits in the office of the president whom does not like to have anyone say anything remotely negative about him.

Similar, in a stretched, deep psychology way. It was on this forum, so I'm trying to avoid posting anything else than what I did. I already regret posting the reply that I did, to a degree.
