uhhh uhhh...
I assumed a knee-jerk reaction relating to the bogus stuff.
anyway the more bad is ascribed to someone innocent,
the more of the people's (who say bad stuff about them) good deeds they get. that's what i believe.
so his will be a mountain at this point.
although idk how many good deeds a tabloid journalist has in the first place, i guess theirs just go into the minuses..
i prob relinquished to my old lawyer a mountain of good deeds too at this point... i'm probably in the minus range now...
I haven't researched the details extensively in ages and I spent most of my childhood/teenhood on the fence. I don't believe that if some of the allegations are credible that they all must be, or that if some are likely not, that none of them could be. I don't know, I don't imagine superfans choosing to ruin their idol's reputation baselessly, but I also feel like he was an obvious enough target that I'm not willing to accept them entirely. I don't know and it's a shame that the two can't be untangled from each other and any attempts will end up with more people upset before you're done than if it was just left alone entirely.
I feel terrible for his kids, regardless of what's true and what's not; it's not their burden to bear but how can they not?
I feel terrible for any hypothetical victims, like I can barely conceive of not wanting to conceal that because you would understand the risks if it becoming known and whether you're a victim or an accomplice would feel shame, obligation or both to not say anything. That's a horrific burden to place, hypothetically.
If it's not true I feel overwhelmingly horrible for Michael, because that's among the worst slanders one could make in our society.
Even if it is true, I still feel some sort of empathy because like.... he was barely an adult when his solo career was taking off, if you know your artist is prone to potential third-rail level self-destructive behaviour, you find him someone close enough in age that no one asks about it and you impress upon them the importance of not destroying things because it's not just for him at that point, it's for a lot of people emotionally and financially invested in him.
But, I don't know and for as opinionated as I usually am, it's really hard to know for certain, and I feel that since it's a mess of claims with varying degrees of substantiation, that I'm not confident enough with what I think I know to want to try to untangle the mess.
And you've probably seen the things I will argue over.
Since you're probably more emotionally invested I don't want to dig-in on it. I stopped listening to pop music around the same time the first wave of accusations came out, but stayed pretty sure he was innocent until the second set. That was the mom who had a history of profiting from questionable lawsuits. The more recent ones with the guys who made their accusations as adults swung me closer to believing the first set and them, but still more skeptical about the 2nd one.
If you enjoy his music I won't judge, I've got some people who express some pretty horrible opinions and some people who've done some pretty horrible things mixed into my music catalogue and Varg Vikernes ain't even the worst of 'em.
