I don't think there's a right or wrong Jamesy.

I don't think a pint would last me that long though.

Just one?

Yeah.

1. I crossed the border into the USA late night to fill the truck up with gas because it gets 16.8L/100km (14mpg US) and gas is cheaper there even with exchange. So I bought a 6 pack I hadn't seen before, even though it was expensive. Border guards will pretty much Always allow a 6 pack across without charging excise taxes. I've gotten away with 12 packs, and even 15 or 18 packs, too. I always declare it, they don't bother collecting the tax. But I didn't want to push my luck OR buy too many expensive beers. With the current exchange rate that 6 pack cost me $20 cdn - which is Very expensive for a 6 pack. If they sell that beer here, it's probably cheaper here. It used to be that beer was always cheaper in Washington so would be worth buying along with gas.. but even cheap beer is more expensive after exchange there now. Gas is still cheaper, though. I justified the expensive beer because I don't recall ever seeing that particular IPA before and even at $3.50/can it's still way cheaper than drinking in a bar ever, so, what the hell, I'll try it. Also bought a small pack of Djarum Blacks because once in a blue moon I liked smoking those clove cigarettes.. but all flavoured tobacco has been illegal to sell here for years now, so figured for $10 usd I'd grab the little 10 or 12 pack (they sold 20 packs here before) and have one once in a while/give away the rest.

2. We had a party here several weeks ago and even though we already have dozens and dozens of bottles of alcohol, I spent $750 at the liquor store on beer/vodka sodas/gin smash/ciders/hard lemonade etc to make sure we'd have all anyone wanted to drink. Only went through about half of it, so there are plenty left.. plus other cases of beers I've bought. I don't really have a Need to buy any alcohol for a while - unless we were to have another large party or two and it gets drank.

3. I only typically drink 1-3 drinks at the beach. Even 3 is getting to be too much and I only have a 3rd IF I'm gonna be there long enough to be legal to drive/ride home. Legal driving limit is the strictest in the world at 0.05%. Plus I have no interest in being a hardcore alcoholic. When my consumption starts to creep up to 3-4/day, I dial it back to max 1 sometimes none and just drink water/soda water etc to keep a clearer head, better functioning brain, not get fat from the excess calories, not increase my tolerance so that when I do drink I get to feel a nice little buzz without having to drink enough to be illegal to drive/ride etc.

So, yeah, just one 6 pack. Drank one yesterday.. decent IPA but there are others just as good or better for less money. Drank a lager and a strawberry lemonade (vodka), too. And a couple L of water/soda waters. So far just black coffee this morning.

This thread seems to have wandered off topic from being a support thread for those having difficulties with alcohol into being a drinkers' meeting club, chatting about the various joys of alcohol.

This is miles away from what it's supposed to be about and is already causing problems for those with actual alcohol issues.

So please, if you want a friendly pub chat about booze then create a thread for that - don't subvert this one into becoming something it's not supposed to be.

Alternatively the support aspect can be abandoned (there's already far too many pro-alcohol posts to remove) and I'll rename it to something like "The WP Drinker's Club" and move it to Random Discussion.

Your choice - but it can't continue with the "support" title and the type of content it's receiving.

Pretend you live where I do and want to be able to drive or ride, legally, 24/7 just in case you want to go out. Boom! You'll never be over 0.05% BAC even if you have a daily drink or two. 8)

Add bonus: You'll also never have a hangover.
