In my area, central New York, we set a record high temperature for the day, January 12, of 53 degrees.

I'll tell you, it feels like the middle of July!

Tomorrow, just as nice, if not warmer... Then tomorrow night and saturday we will get blasted... I think rain, snow would be better.

Fact:

The only rain we had this summer, between the end of May and the end of August, came from hurricane leftovers. No other weather systems were able to break the drought pattern we had.

I reordered checks today and found out this tidbit:

Did you know that most standard delivery check orders arrive on Tuesdays? Due to the lower volume of First Class mail on Tuesdays this is the day that the USPS mail carriers carry and deliver most of the parcel post and bulk rate mail.

Btu stands for "British thermal unit" and is defined as the amount of energy needed to increase the temperature of 1 pound of water by 1 degree Fahrenheit.

One Btu equals 1055.87 joules.

A joule is defined by the amount of energy required to force one newton for a distance of one meter.

A joule is also called a newton-meter (or newton-metre).

However, joule is used when measuring energy and newton-meter when measuring torque.

My name "Cade" comes from the Latin verb cadere, which means "to fall; to die; to rot; to fall to the ground as if slain in battle."

The Latin verb caedere means to "to hack, to kill" and it is the root word from which we get the suffix -cide, like in suicide and homicide.

Paul Klee was born in Switzerland in 1879.

He studied art in Munich and was called up by the German Army, although he did not see action.

He taught at Bauhaus in the 1920's and 30's. Being highly idiosyncratic man and artist, he was not a typical art teacher. His methods of instruction were consider highly unorthodox at the time.

The Nazi's confiscated many of his works, and put them on display as part of a "degenerate art" exhibit. Paintings where hung close together and at odd levels for viewing, to make the experience for the audience more uncomfortable.

The rise of Hilter forced Klee to move back to Switzerland. After this, Klee struggled with depression until his death.

Klee died in 1940, after five years of suffering from scleroderma, a painful and chronic disease that causes the skin to harden and can spread to internal organs.

Klee was hugely influential in both the surrealist and nonbjective art movements, but also in art pedagogy and theory.
