I wonder what the average mass of a flying dragon would be.

A couple hundred kilograms, maybe?

An elephant can weigh around 5 tonnes.

Let us say 10 tonnes (10 megagrams) for a grand old dragon. The acceleration due to gravity at sea level on Caelum is 9.3 m/s^2. The force pulling on the dragon, then, is 93 kN pulling down!

Obviously, a new, strong fundamental force is necessary to allow for flying dragons. It will also make their remains as sources of matter interacting with the new force valuable beyond belief.

Keep in mind that small dragons will exist as well.

But what if the dragon was to have small wings for a comparatively large and dense body?

Non-magic dragons that are most adapted to flying would have to have hollow bones, large pectoral and arm muscles, and very large wings for its size.
Non-magic dragons that are not suited for long-distance flight may have slightly smaller muscles and wings.
Dragons that use magic can have much smaller wings and solid bones.
