VERY happy about a couple things.
Thing 1: checked weather forecast yesterday and it called for frozen ick oobleck blah
during a midday time period. I was supposed to be driving to/from doc in that time period. Frozen ick oobleck blah put me in the ER once, so I don't go out in it anymore.
Called doc's office yesterday, left message postponing and explaining. Today I called doc's office to set up new appt. They THANKED ME because they have other older patients so they confirmed the forecast, and are contacting these other patients to warn about weather, rearrange schedules! This doc's office is awesome. Here I was worried I'd look like a flibbertigibbet, and instead it ended up protecting other people's safety. I'm still kind of sitting here with my mouth hanging open, but SO grateful. There really ARE good people out there.
Thing 2: It has been sooooooo cold, and I know we have trouble with pipes and mains in my neighborhood, so I ran out this morning before the frozen ick oobleck blah, to get groceries and bottled water. Because I figured as soon as it warms up, we'll find water main breaks that had been protected by ice - they'll thaw and start leaking.
So I get home, and there's an email from our property managers... turns out there was a localized problem for one home, but MY HANDYMAN WOOT WOOT saved the day working with our maintenance engineer (also a woot woot great guy) and they didn't need to shut down the mains; this is a big hairy honkin' deal!
One of the nicest things about being an old phartess, as my Dad used to put it, is that I really appreciate stuff like this now. It's good luck, with people in it. Good people-luck. This made my day, maybe my whole week.
(Edit in: people sometimes criticise Aspies for overexplaining. Guess what? It's precisely because I overexplained to my doc's office, that they knew to check the forecast. Take that, critics of Aspies! )
