wow, you must be healthy and have a sensitive palate. i could do a carrot and rice also, but the carrot would have to be cooked until soft, and i would add teriyaki sauce to the rice and carrot mixture, as well as a bunch of furikake. my tongue needs a lot of screaming flavors to be happy.

i just had a bowl of oatmeal, btw.

That's a lot of different flavors all together. 8O I do think some furikake would go well with carrot steamed rice (which is actually quite carroty and fairly sweet). Sounds like a nice contrast. Sometimes I like my food to be delicately flavored and sometimes so flavorful that it's like a kick in the tastebuds. :D And yes, my diet is (mostly) very healthy, but actually, I only had so simple a meal because I'm sick and wanted something easy to make and easy on the stomach. :?

Yeah, that sounds like the flu I'm familiar with. I don't know what's wrong with me--it's similar to the flu without nausea (which is a relief--I think nausea's the worst feeling there is). I went to the doctor and she said that it might be the flu, but she can't be certain because the test (which was negative) isn't accurate until you've been sick for 24 hours, and it had only been 12. I'm pretty sure colds don't come with fevers of nearly 102 degrees, though. :? Maybe a sinus infection.

not making a global statement here, but none of my sinus infections came with a temp. my last flu also was without a temp, and when i asked the doc about he, he told me there are zillions of different flu bugs, some cause fever and some don't. in general, with the flu there are at least body aches and pains, often in the back or ribcage, severe pains that make one think of something else like diverticulitis or kidney stones or cracked ribs. this was what i had. in any case you should rest and keep well-hydrated because "the solution to polutiion is dilution" [an old doctor's saw from a much older danny kaye comedy, "the court jester"].
below is a useful link to a site about treating flu-

Thanks for the link. ^_^ It's very concise and looks good. I have got a history of sinus infections (complete with fever), and they tend to last weeks or months, so the thought does frighten me. But I've never had a sinus infection with body aches, sore throat, and painful lungs. So I'm actually hoping it's the relatively brief (if more unpleasant) flu. Anyway, I'll be sure to lie here like a lump and drink lots of liquids. :) Thanks for the advice.

my older sister swears by using nasal lavage- tilting her head back 90 degrees and squirting warm saline up one nostril and blowing it out the other, into the sink. she does this often and hasn't had a sinus infection in ages. as for me, as soon as i got a script for a nasal steroid [nasocort or flonase] and was rid of a cat and a dusty house with a defective HVAC filtering system, my sinus infections seem to have been reduced to a dull roar. allergens were what plagued my sinuses, and getting rid of the allergens is the key- more of "the solution to polution is dilution."

Unfortunately, for me, squirting stuff up my nose provides a sensation I want to experience about as much as I want to jump from a moving vehicle. I'd really have to be verging on suicide before I'd try that again. >_< And my sinus troubles have popped up in two states and three countries, so I don't know what environmental factor it might be, unless I am allergic to myself. Or clothing. :?

Very dark chocolate. Not too many carbs.
