A situation in my neighborhood that has been worrying me is now resolved.

I've had a neighbor (considerably older than myself) who seemed to develop dementia very quickly after the death of his wife. After a few months of live-in care by relatives, the family decided he'd be safest in memory care. His house was sold sometime last month, and the new owner started moving things in today.

I feel bad for him and his relatives - a long life should end in dignity, not like this - but I'm relieved that someone took this step before he wandered off or injured himself.

This is not a happy thing. But it could have gone very badly, and instead people did the right thing, in time.

One of my Grandpas friends had this same thing happen to him. He lived out his last year and a half in a Mennonite nursing home with everyone doting on him. I have never seen so many people at his funeral. I think the whole town showed up.

It's amazing how badly an ingrown nail can hurt. BTDT - I'm glad you've gotten relief.

I'm baking a pumpkin custard that's going to be eaten warm, with butter, starting in about 20 minutes. (With enough leftovers for several days and then I'll bake another one :-) )

(edit in: hugs back, cecilfienkelstien! with cats.)
