Got to talk to the person I'm currently thinking of as my best friend for a little while today.

I've been volunteering at a thrift shop for a few weeks now, testing electronics and maybe doing some repairs. They haven't had anyone working on that room regularly for about a year now, so when I started it was a very large pile of bins of jumbled up electronics. As of today I've cleared half of the pile.

WOW! you're industrious.

That's a great picture.

I don't know if I could deal with it if it was a paid job with a schedule and everything. They've been helping me out for years, pretty much the only people I know here, after 11 years of living here. So I get store credit (got some nice sandals today), it gets me out of the place I'm staying at right now. Someplace quiet to sit.

I think the most satisfying thing was untangling three+ bins of mixed cords. One of which was a bin sized knot of cords.
I am looking forward to getting it to a point that it's manageable.

My most pressing issue today is what to have for supper, and whether I should shave my legs .

I tooken my older kitty to the vet yesterday (sunny, warmish day) to get her teeth cleaned and have a sebaceous cyst removed (on face, growing, bothered her).

So glad I did that before the snow hit today

She took forever to recover from the anesthesia - her back legs were unreliable all day and I was worried, since she is an older cat. I set aside my other plans for the day so I could stay in and keep an eye on her - glad I did.

This morning she's bouncing around like her old self, and seems relieved to be rid of that thing on her face. The pic below is not my girl, but in terms of "bearing" (poise, beauty, facial expression) it resembles her a LOT. My girl, though, has deep copper eyes.

Edit in: and she is incredibly affectionate... I think she remembers who held her in a towel to keep her warm and still for a few hours yesterday :-) ...

This makes me happy. Izzy and Sheldon and cecil send purrs

Untying a Gordian knot... enjoy. (I used to be very good at untangling fine chains (jewelry) when I was young.) It's an incredibly satisfying thing!

Cecilfinkelstein,

Good to hear your kitty is doing better! It's always worrisome when they get sick, especially when they're older. If your kitty looks like the one in the picture, she must be a cutie indeed! She looks like a beautiful tortoiseshell. I love tortie/Calico cats!

Dug out my car etc. yesterday because I had a routine Dr. appointment today - smack in the middle of the day - making today a "accomplish only one thing" day. So I got a message this morning, their parking lot is not yet cleared, and I can call them next week to reschedule.

So the Dr.'s office gets a snow day :-) and so do I, and hopefully nobody with an urgent need has to wait too long.

Cecil: I'd not realized your kitty was ill. That's so scary. Glad they are better.

A canceled meeting! I don't have to drive to Tampa (3 hours each way.) Hurray!

I believe my wife will be able to get out of her parking space today.

I thought I did the job last night, without shoveling----but 5 more inches fell overnight, so I had to actually SHOVEL this morning before work.

I have little aches and pains which might be typical of 57-year-old people--but I like it when I succeed in doing my job.
