I wonder what was up with all the Satan movies in the 60's and 70's like Rosemary's Baby, The Exorcist, and The Omen?

Did people fear that the world was about to end because of all the turmoil?

It was the height of the “sinful” sexual revolution.

I think it had to be more than that. There was so much turmoil in the 60's and 70's. People were violently angry and unsure where the world was headed or what was really right and wrong anymore.

It's the same exact reason George Romero made the movie Night of the Living Dead in 1968 about zombies taking over the world and killing everybody. People must have been expecting the end of days to happen at any moment during the 1960's and 1970's.

I agree, lostonearth. I really hated those movies. I avoid movies with that theme completely.

I watched the Cinema Snob review such a movie called DOGS the other day. Although dogs kill many more people each year than sharks, it was pretty awful.

Yeah, that whole incident was just so tragic.

Helter Skelter was another cult that did atrocious things but I think that happened in the late 1960's.

A movie about Helter Skelter is set for release next year with Quentin Tarantino at the helm.

The election of Harvey Milk to public office. Milk was the first openly gay man ever to be elected to public office.
