There was some news here on tv now, parts of
the cooler-system has broken down they say.
Things might get a little hot

well it says

The European Organization for Nuclear Research expects to propel the first beam of protons through the accelerator today, but it is expected to take SEVERAL WEEKS to reach top speed and start beaming back data to computers watching their every move.

so in several weeks we'll be dead :s its already hit somehwere in cardiff which they thought was part of the big bang :s

They are only testing the device, the beam is only moving in one direction, clockwise for the first test then, a few hours
later in the anticlockwise direction, the actual test will not occur till sometime next year, when the LHC is at full power.

I read in my local paper that these researchers are looking for the "God particle" (Higgs Boson) in that Hadron collider.
