Most are new but I'm picky about editions so many are from vintage bookshops.
Stop me now. I haven't even read all the books I do own.
I keep my word.
Solidarity,
Isabella
PS. What do you read / collect?
I am also very picky about the editions, but since i am always out of money i mostly cannot even afford the hard cover versions... Trust me, i would rather have the better versions, but the money is almost always non-existent.
It is very impressive that you are attempting to go through this.
If you make this happen, i will show you my appreciation by buying a book that you want. I PROMISE! (and i always keep them!).
That's very kind of you. I'll settle for a hearty congratulatory salute at 12:01 a.m. on 1 August.
I don't purchase hard covers unless they are first or early editions, and in very good shape. I wouldn't be able to find most of my books in hard cover or early edition, anyway. I'm happy with soft cover and paperback books provided they are published by Oxford, Cambridge, Norton or Penguin Classic Press and they have reputable scholarly notes. I particularly like introductions by Tim Dolan, Christine Alexander or Juliet Barker in my Victorian novels. My oldest book is a leather-bound, 1901 edition of
Villette. I'd certainly faint and die to have a 19th C edition of
Wuthering Heights, published by Thomas Newby.
What do you like to read? (I suppose I'm changing threads, now) -- I'm interviewing you.
