Had the guts to break off a relationship I knew I could not sustain.

I found exactly the garden statue I've been wanting, badly, as a memorial to a wonderful cottontail rabbit who lived in my yard and raised her little ones here for several years. Now two of her daughters are raising their babies here. You can't see it in this pic, but they got the tail absolutely perfect.

(Perfect bunny statue image removed to keep post size small :-) - Esme)

That is amazing!!

And would you believe, the statuette is made in Canada? It is, really.

(@Trog) Fox kits... I love them... but am sadly glad we don't have foxes in my neighborhood, because of the bunnies.

(One of my neighbors tamed Little Mama, as I called her, enough so that she'd come up onto his porch and sit up, like that statue, next to his patio door, to let him know she was there. Every day around teatime. He'd go out and feed her bread. When her babies grew big enough, she'd bring them up onto his porch and teach them to ask for dinner too. She was very maternal - once sat on a nest through three days of rain, which I know because she had nested right next to my house, on the leeward side which was also higher ground. She was protecting her babies from the wet, and I was chewing my fingernails to the quick worrying about all of them. This much investment in the little ones is apparently unusual for Eastern cottontails. I loved her to pieces.)

I'll tell you something, Esmeralda: I wouldn't have had your patience.

You were determined to get what you want---and you got it!

Luck, actually. I knew the "pose" I was hoping to find, and I just kept looking around in various stores' garden sections. Finally lucked out! But she deserves to be remembered.

Denis Istomin and David Ferrer both won their first round matches in Eastbourne, in the run-up to Wimbledon.

Rafael Nadal is back at number one.

I received an email saying three of the books I ordered have been successfully delivered to me! (I'm not home).

(I've received The Woodlanders, The Return of the Native and Frankenstein).

Three down, thirteen yet to arrive, but I'll have a happy homecoming later tonight :)

I love it when books arrive at my door.

Talking to a German who is living in the US for 60 years now. The fact that we spoke in his native tongue made him remember his mother and tear up! He thanked me after

I was unburdened of the need to keep seeing a certain medical professional -- who was as helpful as a flying monkey.

(Post something unhappy: seeing said professional for 30 minutes of condescension, if only for my last visit ever).
