8) Thanks.

I know someone who just got a kitten. So that's very fitting.

no reason for shame, not at all- but an impetus to gird the habit of being vigilant always, to avoid trouble.

THIS guy and his instant, new, nonhuman, beloved to the point of self annihilation if necessary, family.

Best of all, he's a writer....

Hearing a prop plane go over just now

Prop planes going over, on a warm summer day... one of the happy sounds of my youth.

gosh, I just heard a prop plane go over also, but it is likely just the state revenue collector [bear in the air] catching hapless speeders.

Oh... where I live they have the absolutely coolest airport in the entire country, there's a flight museum and they actually take people up in things like Flying Fortresses. Plus we have some smaller general aviation that uses small prop planes for cargo hauling. It's a nice sound.

Our Staties usually go after speeders by helicopter, IIRC.

This is Truly Weird Trivia: as a kid, my home was on the flight path from the White House to Camp David. Then I grew up, worked all over the place (two coasts, two continents and the British Isles), came back to the States, and spent a dozen years of my 20-in, in another city, living right on the flight path from the WH to CD.

So I retired, moved out to the western part of the state, and yeah, you guessed it. I'm STILL on the flight path from the WH to CD. I mean ON the flight path. I used to see Marine One &/or Two going over my home - usually the Sikorsky White-tops - or hear 'em - all the time during the decade before I retired, and now I can go out in my front yard and wave to them as they go - over my home. Again. Still.

These days, admittedly, I am strongly tempted to wave with fewer fingers, but I restrain myself. It's not the pilots' fault, poor loves.

I live under a flight path also, am guessing about 30 miles from SeaTac airport.

I like to stand underneath 'em when they fly by, I watch them through binos and imagine my humble self up there with those jetsetting swells soaring from place to place.

A co-worker of my mom's visiting earlier today. She did call ahead of time, but what made her visit so awkward is that my uncles arrived shortly after her and they did not call ahead of time.

I thought to myself, "This is so awkward, so I'm going to be in my room."

When I lived with my parents we had several relatives who would just show up quite often (unannounced). They would walk straight in the door without knocking! Sometimes I would be in the shower or whatnot, and alas... my aunt or uncle would suddenly appear in the next room. It was horrible. No wonder I'm a hermit now :)
