Sorry to hear about your cat. I'll be thinking about you and her. I love tabbies.

My kittygirl was diagnosed with dehydration, advanced diabetes and a bad bladder / kidney infection with kidney damage. Tests are being done to see if any other organs are affected (possible pancreatitis or liver damage). She's on IV antibiotics now, then I'll bring her home for a month of diabetes medication to see if it helps.

If not I have to consider insulin therapy.

Has anyone here dealt with a diabetic kitty?

No I haven't but this is some useful information about the detrimental impact of dietary carbohydrates on the blood glucose balance and insulin response of cats as a species – with pre-diabetic and diabetic patients being especially susceptible to the negative effects of high carbohydrate diets

I'm a housekeeper.
Encountered a new vacuum cleaner at the worksite which had almost 0% suction, yet sounded like a F**KING JET ENGINE.
I had no earplugs. I felt like crying. Work has no idea of my medical conditions.

Both of my kitties get canned senior cat food and not much dry food. My male kitty is completely healthy although he's tiny (kitten size) whereas my female kitty is huge and now diabetic. They're roughly the same age. In fact the tiny male is older. Genetics must have a part in the diabetes, somehow. The vet is prescribing special food for my sick kitty and I'll make sure to watch the carb counts.

my sister had a cat whom was of an adult chronology and it had developed diabetes, sadly though despite proper insulin therapy treatment and care, it eventually passed away. Now, I'm not trying to make you feel unpleasant as, that is an isolate and all cats like people are not the same, and seeing how your female cat is young in age there is a great amount of hope overall...So don't give up.,

My cat Sebastian was diabetic. We used to check his glucose by poking his ear. He was such a great cat he would let you give him his insulin no problem. We even used to give him iv fluids as he had failing kidneys.

I have had many cats, and many passed from various old age-related complications (cancer, renal failure and the like), but I have never had one with diabetes. The information on feline diabetes is very useful in case I would ever have to deal with it.

I'm sorry that happened to you. It makes me upset that things like this still happen in the world. I have had a few people say things like that to me.

Amazon sending me an e-mail saying a package will be delayed. I already know that without the message, and I was having a great day until then, now I feel like s**t.
