I find "byproduct" to be too limiting and also negative in connotation, as though you're an afterthought and thus less in value, especially when used in conjunction with referring to one's self as broken. The thoughts we have about ourselves are more powerful than we realize, and labeling one's self with something negative only serves to reinforce the negativity and keep a person within the framework of that negativity.
Learning to stop identifying with the past is a big part of therapy and psychology.
If one doesn't agree with my views and opinions, don't agree. We don't have to think the same. But please don't read something in my words that isn't there. I was not insinuating or implying that one can't have value despite how they feel about themselves or others.
