why do the carcasses of insects not rot away?
i had a large moth die a few weeks ago in one of my bedrooms and i forgot about it, and when i went in there it was still there in exactly the same condition as it was when it died. it was large enough to have had a belly full of goo, and yet it never smelled or withered or looked any different after so much time. i think if i put a dead fly in a glass bottle, it would look exactly the same in 500 years if the bottle was not disturbed.

why do i never see dead ants? i mean, i see dead flies, dead moths, dead beetles and all sorts of dead insects that have just croaked and rolled over and died where they last stood, but i have never seen a dead ant that had died of seemingly natural causes.

----------------------

i noticed the dust that is on the windowsill of the window of my bathroom (which is never opened) today when i was cleaning it, and there were specks of dust the size of small grains of sand. how did they get there? they were far too large to be able to float in the air, and i looked up to see if there was any deterioration on the upper surface of the recess that the window is built into, and there was none. by what manner did those small granules arrive on the sill?

i am going to set up a chair in front of the sill and sit there until i see the next grain of dirt land on my windowsill. then i will know how it happens and then i can get some sleep.

it is a pity that this post will be 5 pages in the past tomorrow afternoon.

I see dead insects not decomposing but they eventually dry up and break apart.

I hate randomness. It makes me want to put on a checkered wedding dress and slap Danny DeVito across the face with a goat.

Because the outer shells and other bits are made of Chitin, which is practically nature's version of plastic.
It's similar to Keratin, which is what things like claws and fingernails are made from.

WHHHHYYYYY THE NEW SUB-FORUM, WHYYYYYYYYYYY!

*Goes to see what you're talking about*

Ohhhh! :P

I'll just pretend it's not there... even though I scroll down to the other subforums all the time... so maybe that will be an arduous task, ignoring it...

WHHHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

I'm still waiting for my living skills forum.

That would be a way more productive and useful sub-forum, due to the fact that Asperger's and autism can actually affect living skills. Mine are surely affected.

I love all the pictures you use for your avatars. I love how you change them so no one ever gets tired of looking at just one picture. I need to change my avatar more often. You're always unique and doing your thing, that's whats great about you, Mick. There will never be another CockneyRebel. You're one in a billion trillion. :sunny:

You're such a sweetie. I just want to hug you. :O)
:D Thank You.
