Well, thank you sir! Unfortunately 3 was true. I didn't know about plagiarism and I took things very literally. My teacher didn't say that the story needed to be original :( (btw, I'm still obsessed with pop-up books!)

1 is true

2 is my lie. It's mostly true, but I ended up writing a report about TS Eliot during the course of a month, using the available reference materials. I presented to the entire class. I was a nervous wreck because the other students chose topics like "Duran Duran" or "My parents got divorced", etc. I got a very high grade on my assignment after all the stress.

In 1976, at age 15:

1. I had a West Side Story romance with a Hispanic girl who dragged me into an apartment building vestibule and taught me tongue-kissing.

2. I had a romance with a blonde girl who was my immediate neighbor to the south.

3. I had a crush on my best friend’s sister, who was very much like Daria.

Well Isabella, having chosen T.S. Eliot as your topic, I think you safely guaranteed that your classmates couldn't consider your topic as dumb.

Kraftie, I guess #3, because even though I've only read last couple of pages, it seems it is most often the girls that fall for you and not vice versa

For mine,#1 was true. It actually healed by itself, but some of the inside iris had leaked outside and got trapped in the lens. The surgery was the re-cut open the eye, to free the iris, and then stitch it back :) .

The lie was #3, although throughout high school my doubles partner must have hit me in the back with serves
at least a million times (precision wasn't his strong suit).

My Lie is #2. I had a crush on that girl—-but she didn’t want to date anybody. She was always respectful to me. She was a very mature 13-year-old.

1. My brother's (ex)-wife used to proposition me via internet, when messaging first became a thing in the late 90s.

2. I have so many cousins on my mother's side that one of them flirted with me during my grandmother's funeral in 2001. He didn't realize I was family, and thought I was attending the funeral as a friend of the family. I didn't know who he was, either! I'm grateful that my mother intervened (lol).

3. I went on a date with my cousin's best friend, but he smelled like onions so I didn't see him again.

You're right, 3 is my lie. I never dated a smelly friend of a cousin, at all.

1 and 2 are true.

In 1977, at age 16:

1. I had the opportunity for a hot time with this girl after we saw “The Turning Point”—but I had to be home by curfew. Never saw the girl again. She was upset with me.

2. I was to meet some guy for some sort of big, hip thing in Greenwich Village—but we missed each other. Maybe I was lucky; he might have had “gay” things in mind.

3. I watched Reggie Jackson hit 3 homers for the Yankees in the World Series....while talking to my future First Lover.

I think it's 1.

I never had a curfew and I doubt you did, either (although I suppose NYC might be a good place to require one).

If it's true, what time was curfew?

Alas, #1 is all true. I had a 11 PM curfew when I was 16. Then it was 12:30 at 17, until I turned 18. She was a pretty, smart girl.

#2 didn’t occur until 1978.

1. I had surgery on my heart when I was 30.

2. I had surgery on my tail bone when I was 21.

3. I was hospitalized for adrenal gland depletion (a complete shut down of adrenaline) from stress, in 2001.

1 is my lie. I do have a congenital heart issue but it's never been repaired.

2 and 3 are true.

Will it cause problems if it isn’t fixed?

I don't know. Some cardiologists say it could have caused my stroke, especially when combined with migraines. Others say that's rubbish. I'm not keen on cardiac surgery but it seems to be benign so I'm just leaving it. I didn't even know about the issue until an echocardiogram after my stroke, so I assume it can't be that bad. In the meantime I now take beta blockers to regulate my heart rhythm.

How are you feeling now? Is the migraine gone?

In 1980, at age 19:

1. I was threatened with being beaten up at my order picker’s job for an insurance company. I quit to avoid this person.

2. I was too lazy to interview for a Civil Service job at the Criminal Courts Building.

3. I worked a temporary assignment for the Yellow Pages. The temp service was pissed when I left the assignment to start at my present job.
