This is extremely depressing. I sometimes wonder whether we will be able to abandon that in time to save ourselves.

IMHO, once a country goes past a certain point, only an external agency can reset things. comparisons to 30s Germany are not totally out of line.

the signs point to either that man, or somebody arguably worse, that sycophantic dominionist presently the Veep. I get nauseous just mentioning his name. and why Portugal and not a place like Canada instead? Canada WANTS you, you have useful skills and moolah and could contribute to the national well-being there. that is an asset.

canada won't take you unless you've already been hired to work there. i also have a 1997 dui for taking bedtime meds (that i no longer need) and driving. that's a barrier in canada. portugal will take you if you have enough assets to support yourself. there is good medical care. i would have to pass nursing boards (in Portuguese) to practice there. they would let me bring my cats without quarantine if they are certified vaccinated and healthy by my vet. cost of living is 25-30% lower than here.

drat, that is unfortunate- otherwise it is attractive at least because it is not as far removed from here. when I am able to get my pension and social security i'm thinking hard of emigrating there, i'm 50/50 about it at present.

You have lots of virtues, Kip.

I feel like you’d be a good catch for any decent, eccentric woman.

You have that Bohemian thing going as far as your looks are concerned.

From the T-shirt quilt I’m making, I have enough scraps to make two more cat-size quilts (30”x25”). :D
