i remember fragments of this dream: i found a car in my garage that i'd not seen before, so naturally i hopped in and found the key already in the ignition, so i turned 'er over and put 'er in gear and went zooming down the road, and almost imperceptibly i went through a time warp, and the next thing i knew, i was in my hometown but several decades in the future, and the town was all built up with tall multistory caramel-colored buildings in place of the glorified storefronts that it used to have back in the present day. i went into one of these buildings, it was some kind of dormitory for people who worked for the gov't, each room occupied several floors and had a pull-down upper storage level on a spring-loaded ladder. on the bottom floor i found a door on the right side of the room, so i opened it and exited the building only to find a wide boulevard which was closed for some kind of automobile race, and i jumped across the street so as not to be hit by any speeding cars, and found myself in another car garage where i got into another car and drove down the road until i was well out of town, and i eventually came upon my tin can that i now live in, but in this future time it was rebuilt and the aluminum siding was replaced with stick-built exterior paneling, and i entered the house through the front door which was already ajar, and found that people in the future lived very simply, with spartan furniture, non-localizable illumination, and very inconspicuous electronic entertainments that were miniaturized almost beyond belief, like a big-screen holographic tv set that folded down into something the size of a deck of playing cards that was sitting atop a small table, tiny stereo speakers of a similar size [but filled the room with totally non-localizable sound], and there were almost no buttons as though everything was controlled by voice commands. then the occupants of the house [a middle-aged but very well-preserved and youthful couple] returned and entered the house, saw me there, and asked me why i was in their house, so i told them i used to live in it a long while back, and that i knocked but the door was open so i walked in expecting to apologize to the occupants for entering but that i was curious about the house. i noticed the couple were wearing identical outfits of clothing made out of pink sponge-like material, and both had identical hairstyles partially obscured by pink gauzy hairnets. they were not especially happy that i was still in their living room so i awkwardly bid them adieu and hurriedly got back in the car and drove away, at which point i awoke.
