I was in the kitchen with my daughter and felt a slight numbness on the left side of my face around my mouth area. Freaked me out. Only lasted for a few seconds. We ordered Chinese and at the dinner table, while eating my beef & broccoli, I noticed that my right foot was extremely swollen. Didn't even look like my foot anymore. Showed my daughter and she seemed to think it was funny. I asked her what she found so funny about my swollen foot and she said "It just looks funny, that's all."

those are medically worrisome symptoms of something that should be checked out ASAP, IMHO.

cosmiccat,
I agree with blabby. Please see your doctor! I suffered a stroke a few years ago and it was totally unexpected for my age and health. I would take any negative symptoms (lack of things, such as sensation) quite seriously and see your doctor. It's likely that you are fine but please be proactive.

Thank you both for your concern and advice. I saw my doctor 2 days ago for my biannual visit. Everything was fine, blood pressure, heart rate. I think my problem is too much salt/sodium and I'm going to cut down and stay away from the salt shaker and salty foods - which I crave. I'm scheduled for blood work and urinalysis. I will be proactive.
I really need to stop being so sedentary and start walking every day. I think my desk chair cuts off my circulation at the knees. I'll use a different chair. Also, Chinese food is notorious for excessive sodium.

I'm glad to hear the good news! :) The other thing to consider with paresthesias would be diabetes, but I'm sure it's on your lab request. Good luck with everything!

breathes a sigh of relief. :o salt is the key thing for blood pressure, as well as excess sugar/refined carb intake. I've had my own issues regarding hypertension, and only when I cut salt AND sugar did it begin to abate. i'm a big believer in these two products-

Benson's Table Tasty
and

NoSalt. both are a good replacement for table salt in foods. I couldn't live without them.

I always thought it was because it's symbolic of going the deepest you can, and those ancient stories involving dark places, and Socrates' Cave, and all that.

I'm at 13,000 posts now. I only need 1,744 more to surpass my previous post count of 14,743.
