I wasn’t scared of Y2K. I was at a laundromat when the first New Years celebrations were shown in American Samoa. That’s my Wolfie Lie :P

The major was actually called “speech pathology and audiology.” I also majored in English.

My professor friend does specialize in linguistics.

1. When I was eight my family went to Disneyworld in Florida with my aunt and uncle. We stayed at the Disney hotel with the train that goes right through the concourse, but I was miserable because I missed home. :( I am frowning and miserable in every photo I've seen.

2. When I was eight my parents went on vacation without me and my brother. We had to stay at home with my aunt who ate a lot of health foods and made me drink buttermilk. She threatened to throw out my baby blanket, the one that I still use for stimming. I was so scared :(

3. When I was eight I spent a week on my friend's sailboat with her parents. I was rude because I kept telling them that my dad's boat was better (Dad didn't like sailboats). I thought I was being polite but they complained about my attitude when they took me home.

#1. I'm thinking you went to Disneyland, rather than Disney World.

Disney World opened in 1970, when I was 9 years old. I've been near there, but never actually IN there.

I was rather near Disneyland once----I saw a sign for it as I was driving on a freeway in 2016.

I had -- still have -- family near both Disney locations (CA and FL), so I've been to each park several times.

#1 is true

#2 is true

#3 isn't true

I was invited to go on my friend's sailboat but I didn't want to because "my boat" was better. It might sound like I was snobby, but I was really just afraid of change. If things weren't like "mine", I was very uncomfortable.

In 1981, at age 20:

1. I finally moved out of my mother's house.

2. I paid $500 a month in rent.

3. I was forced to live on rice and paprika for a week because I lost my paycheck.

I think you moved out before you were 20, prior to 1981.

I really hope the paprika and the rice were combined, rather than separate. :)

Nope. #2 is the Lie. I paid $300 a month. I wanted to leave my mother's abode----but I couldn't financially pull it off until now.

Also in 1981:

1. My fiancée bought a package of diapers because she wanted to be a baby. That cost us the last $10 we had!

2. We actually had some nice times going to movies and such for a couple of months.

3. She said she wanted to get married---but I had cold feet.

I should have said 2. $500 did seem high.

How was the rice? Can you eat paprika now or do you get flashbacks?

3. You wanted to get married.

I won't comment about her desire to be a baby. Very Freudian.

#3 is the Lie----but for a different reason.

She took up with a guy whom she found more "thrilling." He was a "street guy." A drug dealer and drug user.

By that time, it was "over," anyway. She was just acting too crazy. I didn't care if she didn't want to get a job; I didn't mind her staying home. But I had enough of her stunts---like urinating in the bed!

This stuff actually happened. She was the love of my life, truthfully.

But.....we couldn't go on like this.

The urination was on purpose. It wasn't enuresis.

At one point, she was seriously seeking to get a job----without me making any sort of prompt for that on her.

But something happened, which was beyond my power to prevent.

We had potential. Like I said, not because she was willing to get a job. I wouldn't have minded her just staying home. It was a studio apartment--not much cleaning to be done. I helped clean, by the way.

I'm guessing she just got bored with me.

I'm sorry I upset you, Isabella.

You didn't upset me. I just can't imagine having someone urinate in my bed?

1. In the summer of 1977 there was a large explosion and fire near my house. Everyone in our area was evacuated for about four days. I was upset because we had to leave my pets at home. My cat named "The Cat" was shut in our cellar so that emergency services wouldn't report us for leaving him alone. I spent my time learning magic tricks from a little kit that my parents bought to keep me entertained, but I was miserable.

2. In the summer of 1977 my brother broke his arm while skateboarding. The next day he and his friend poured gasoline on a toy motorcycle so they could make it jump on a track while burning, presumably like Evil Kneval. My brother's good arm caught on fire when he threw the match. He spent the rest of the summer with one arm in a plaster cast with a sling, and the other in burn bandaging with a sling.

3. In the summer of 1977 a teenaged girl across the street burned her arm with cooking oil. Her family wasn't home and she ran to our house screaming. My mother took her to the hospital, with my brother and me in tow. I was very annoyed that my mother was paying so much attention to the girl because I seldom got such affectionate treatment. I thought about burning my own arm or hand in the future, for attention.

1 is my lie. There was no such evacuation.
2 is true. Yes, my brother was very adventurous.
3 is also true. The jealousy did cross my mind for a moment. I was able to see that my mother's affection for the girl was ironic. The thought of burning myself was very fleeting because I realized that was stupid, but it did cross my mind.

I would say #3. I don't sense that you were jealous in that sense.

I was too much of a "straight and narrow" sort of kid to do these sorts of things your brother did. You would have thought me a real square LOL

2 is true. My brother was very adventurous.

3 is also true. I was aware of the situation being very ironic because my mother was so affectionate to a girl she barely knew. The idea of burning myself was just a quick flash, but it did cross my mind.

1. Once, there was a transformer blowout on the pole about 30 feet away from the unit I was in in the apartment complex I lived in. I "sort of" slept through the first explosion, but woke up wondering if I'd actually heard something; the second explosion minutes later was very loud and shook everything, which has made me wonder ever since, how the first blast didn't jolt me awake.

2. At another apartment complex, the set of units nearby (but not connected to) the unit I was in caught on fire. It seemed surreal how intense the blaze was. I was not really concerned on it affecting my unit, since it was far enough away, and the winds were calm enough that while still possible, the threat was low.

3. My first experience with flooding came with a tropical storm that stalled over the city. Thankfully the cars were on higher ground, but because I was in a downstairs apartment unit, a few inches got in.
