My dog being a brat, and getting eaten alive by mosquitoes.

My mother, who is 88, is having a cardioversion procedure today, to shock her heart back to a proper rhythm. It's supposed to be a safe procedure, but it still makes me anxious.

dang :-/ I'll most likely have to have it done too sooner or later. I hope all goes well for your mom Aimless!

:) Thanks Taupey and anna-banana-, she is fine but the procedure did not work. They will have to go back to fiddling with her meds. That wasn't working so well before which is why they were going to try the cardioversion. She has been in excellent health until recently and even went to water aerobics three times a week. She's still mentally sharp but easily confused lately. We all have to adjust to the realization that she's an old lady. It's easy to forget, she's 88 and still hasn't gone gray. 8O

I'm sorry to hear it didn't work but I'm glad she's okay and nothing bad happened during the procedure. I hope they can help her with the medication. I know how you feel, I hate to think of my mother getting older.

That's amazing how some women are like that. I have a grandmother who is in her mid 90's and only half of her hair is white and that's only happened over the past 10 years, the other half of her hair is still dark brown. She's never dyed her hair. Her hair is actually long and she still pin curls it like she did when she was really young. She has worn the same exact hair style since she was a teen.

@Taupey- My grandmother had hair down to her waist but you only saw it down when she was getting ready for bed. She was very Miss Marple-ish with her book clubs and her glass of sherry and her favorite exclamation of approval ,"Simply elegant." :)

I can hear rats in the attic. Tried blasting them out with an ultrasonic device, but it appears to be useless. So, I'm going to have crawl under the house and block off the holes where they're coming in. Ecch, spider webs, fiberglass insulation, and mud. I hate going under there.

Might I recommend baiting a trap with bacon grease (rat's can more often then not steel cheese from traps), works for my dad's barn.

The NT youths in my area. I was walking around at 4:30 seeing if I could find a friend of mine. One girl said, "Eew....look at that ret*d!" I said to her, "I know you, are and that's why you have nothing better to do than call people who are different ret*ds!"

Thanks, I was actually wondering about that. I was stereotypically thinking of cheese, but not sure if that's just a cartoon thing.

They like cheese, it's just to easy for them to get off the trap, bacon grease is hard to get out without setting off the trap.

Aimless your grandmother sounds like she was a very sweet lady. :)

My grandmother is more than a little bit rough around the edges and I'm embarassed to talk about her. But her mother, my great-grandmother was more like your grandmother except she drank whiskey instead of sherry. That side of my family is Irish and they liked their whiskey. But she was a wonderful woman and I have great memories of her.

My other great grandmother who was Basque was really proper like your grandmother. She had books and paintings from one end of the sitting room to the other. And my mother says she is the one who taught her how to act and do things right. That side of the family were the business owners and they had a little money. I have wonderful memories of her as well. She was a very intelligent woman and probably had a lot in common with your grandmother.

I never knew my grandparents or great grandparents on my father's side.

My other grandmother was the one lacking in social graces. The story goes that when she met her future in-laws for the first time, she commented to my great grandmother that she must be very nice to have married such an ugly man.

My alarm clock. It's on it's quietest setting and it still hurts my ears.
