#3. Your car/cars actually got flooded during the tropical storm.

I'm going to say 2, so that either Kortie or I will (likely) be right. :)

It was indeed 3. While large parts of the city flooded, I was spared, including the cars. It was only by mere inches though, as the parking lot did take on water almost to the sidewalk.

In 2012, at age 51:

1. I ran out of gas right after Superstorm Sandy.

2. We did not lose power during Superstorm Sandy because all wires are underground in my apartment complex.

3. I did not go into work for the entire week because of Superstorm Sandy.

1. I think people usually prepare ahead of time, if a storm is coming.

2, because even though the cables may be underground at one point, it can still be cut from another location.

#1 is correct, though I didn't "plan" anything. We were just lucky that both of our tanks were full.

I had to wait on long gas lines, though, for the next month after Sandy.

None of us in our complex lost power---except maybe 3 or 4 families. Many trees were knocked down. Further down in Queens---around Briarwood, there were whole streets blocked because of downed trees.

I could not go into work for a week after Sandy. Power was lost south of about 25th Street all through Manhattan for that whole week. It wasn't the storm, per se, that caused this----it was the flooding from New York Bay.

In 1998, at age 37:

1. I finally got my driver's license

2. I bought an old Ford Thunderbird

3. I had one engine fall through to the road; another time, the transmission went dead on an old SUV.

2. I've never heard of you having a Ford

I’ve never bought a Ford, though I like the logo.

(It's my innate intuition...) :)

1. My favourite American cars are vintage black Mustangs (not Shelbys, not convertibles).

2. My grandmother never got her driver's licence because the first time she had a driving lesson she almost backed over one of her children.

3. My brother had a red Camaro when we lived in LA. I was embarrassed to be seen in it because it was too flashy.

3 is my lie. My brother would never drive a red car, likely not even a rental.

1 and 2 are true.

3 incidents have made me second-guess ever getting a license.

1. I ran into the back of an SUV from the left side, while I was trying to turn onto a highway from a small town road through a VERY crowded intersection that was not signal-controlled. I was clearly not ready for that sort of situation, but the person teaching me insisted I do it.

2. I was approaching an intersection one time, when I had a yellow light at a point where I didn't have much stopping distance, so it would've been better to go through. On the right side of the intersection, someone made a right onto my lane, but I was far enough away to where it wasn't a hazard, but being new, I freaked out and felt like I would run into the back of them that I stopped hard, forcing the car behind me to bump into me.

3. One time I went to go pick someone up at their workplace and go back home. Upon reaching the destination, I saw the traffic light was out, and I was not feeling confident enough that I could navigate through, as I had to make a left back onto a highway, so I let the other person that was with me take over. Halfway on the way back, a group of kids on bikes made their way through, forcing everyone to stop suddenly. I never saw the kids until they were passing by in front of us, which makes me think that had I been the one behind the wheel, I wouldn't have stopped in time and could've easily plowed through them, something that scares me.

#1. You just missed the SUV.

All these situations are situations which new drivers have to experience in order to become more experienced drivers. This is why insurance rates are higher for people with 3 years or less of driving experience than it is for people with over 3 years' experience.
