I agree that it might be 1 for Potato

Nope, 1 is true. It was the last time I got behind the wheel (at least on roads, as I still occasionally park cars within the driveway). I get that new drivers will make mistakes, but it's the sheer amount of different things you have to switch your attention between that has me concerned as to whether I can ever handle that. Glance at the left side view, look back forward, check speed, look back forward, glance the rearview, look forward, glance the right side view, look forward, check speed, look forward, so on and so forth... all while trusting a brief glance to comprehend what's going on in the rear. I really don't know if I have the capacity for all that. I mean just attempting to talk on the phone while simultaneously having someone physically there trying to tell me something confuses me enough that neither conversation registers, and no one else seems to have the same level of difficulty with that. The way I find myself looking at it is that the convenience of me being able to get from point A to point B is not worth the potential of getting into an accident that can seriously injure any passengers with me, or anyone else around me such as pedestrians or other vehicles, so it's been 13 years since I've last tried.

That's a very astute observation, Potato. I haven't driven in three years and although I miss it, I also feel like it's safer in the long run.

1. I entered a colouring contest when I was about eight years old. I had to colour an Easter bunny picture and send it to a facial tissue (Kleenex) company. I forget what the prize would have been, but I fully expected to win. I waited a good two years expecting an award to be delivered at my door, before finally giving up and admitting defeat :(

2. I won tickets to see Def Leppard when I was about fourteen. I won them on the radio by correctly naming their drummer. I had to quickly check the back of my album while the talking to the radio host, because I didn't know the drummer's name by memory. I felt guilty for not knowing the answer on my own, and I thought I would have to return the tickets if anyone found out I had checked my LP.

3. When I was in Uni I entered a contest to win a year of free pizza from the local pizzeria. I won the contest but they mistakenly sent me the prize voucher two different times. My roommate offered to buy the extra voucher from me for a decent price, so we were both able to get free pizza for an entire year. I hardly ever used it, but it was still fun to win (twice!)

#2. You probably knew the drummer's name by heart.

In 2003:

1. Up in Moosonee, Ontario, I actually saw a polar bear.

2. In North Bay, Ontario, I expected to see a "quaint downtown." But, instead, I saw lots of malls. My wife, of course, was delighted with this.

3. Somewhere in New Brunswick, Canada, my wife spend 3-4 hours in a "dollar store" while I hung out on a riverbank, watching the fish both looking down at the river, and at an "aquarium" located down a flight of stairs below the river's surface.

3 was my lie.

1 and 2 were true. I didn't know the drummer's name by memory but I did know he only had one arm.

I think your lie is 1, Kortie. Moosonee doesn't seem to be far enough northward. Maybe you saw mooses and knees, but not polar bears. 8)

Actually, polar bears have been known to wander this far south (though it's really considered to be "in the north" within an Ontario context). It gets extremely cold in the winter there (sometimes, minus 40 or below). Like I said, it was no warmer than 10 Celsius when I was there in July (though it has made it up to 38 Celsius on a few occasions).

Nope...never saw a polar bear in Moosonee.

1. I had a grand time going over the bridge from Buda to Pest.

2. There was a very pretty bridge in Dubrovnik; I saw it from my cruise ship window.

3. I've never walked across the George Washington Bridge connecting NYC and Fort lee, NJ

I hope it's 3. The others sound excellent.

I'm not sure about astute, but it's the only reasoning I could come to. It's possible that I'm worrying about nothing, but... idk. My lie was 2, there wasn't a car behind me.

In 1969, at age 8:

1. I learned what gravity was through the song "Spinning Wheel" by Blood, Sweat and Tears. The lyrics went: "What comes up, must come down."

2. I also heard "Honky Tonk Woman" by the Rolling Stones a lot.

3. I used to hear "Spill the Wine" by War (Eric Burdon of the Animals singing) when my father took me to the beach.

3, but I don't know why I'm picking it.

You picked it for a very good reason. "Spill the Wine" didn't come out until 1970.

It's one of my great childhood memories listening to "Spill the Wine" with my dad when he took me to the beach. Sometimes, I don't appreciate my dad enough.

Bad days I remember with my parents:

1. Going to Daytona race track, during our trip to Florida and Disney World. I was a sullen, miserable mess. The hot sun, the megaphones, the crowds, the engine noises, the exhaust smells, the drunk people... OMG I still remember how awful it was. (I was 8 ).

2. Taking my parents to see The Nutcracker ballet for my mother's 50th birthday. I hadn't stopped to realize how much my dad and I would both hate it (nothing against ballet, but neither of us liked getting dressed up or having to sit still and interpret anything). (I was in Uni).

3. Going to the Kennedy Space Center on the same trip as Disney World. By that point I'd had more than enough of travel and I was ready to spit bullets. I hated Kennedy because there was nothing stimmy. Everything felt like fake stone and had no smell. I'm actually sticking my tongue out in some pictures, with tears in my eyes. (I was 8 ).

#3----but perhaps I'm thinking of myself, who always wanted to go to the Kennedy Space Center since the Apollo days.

I was really into the moon missions.

1. I was running around to Led Zeppelins "Whole Lotta Lovin'" when they announced that us kids could watch the Moon landing in the "big house." This was at Camp Montrose, in Pennsylvania. It wasn't live; it was taped. They actually landed on the Moon about 3 AM Eastern Daylight Time.

2. At that same camp, I fell off a horse twice, and broke my elbow.

3. The doctors made sure that my elbow healed properly.

3 The doctors let your elbow heal, but it wasn't quite perfect.

I just realized that all three of my statements are true. We did go to Daytona and Kennedy on the same trip as Disney World.

I wasn't even happy about Disney World, so you can just imagine me at the other two "boy" activities. I wasn't impressed at all. Ironically I went back to Kennedy in my 20s, determined to make it better, but I had another terrible day.

The ballet was a bad idea but I wasn't as miserable as in 1 and 3. My poor father was so, so uncomfortable though. It wasn't his thing at all. I don't know what I was thinking. :(
