I've always been allergic to October because of the dead leaves and decay. Well, here we go! October 2nd and I'm full of a cold already. It usually becomes pneumonia so I hope that doesnt happen again! I have to see Elton again and read WH soon. Out, out allergies!

PS I love October regardless!

Thanks, Korts!
I discovered WH while recovering from October allergies when I was 14, so much good has come of it!

Jane Eyre is a girl of precocious understanding....and maybe too much rough experience, which lead to the understanding, and the compassion.

Her compassion led to the abusive
experiences, and self-awareness led her out of them. This is similar to what many people from WP have experienced in their lives.

For me, it was just plain loneliness. I wish I could say that "compassion" played a role in my naively-derived decisions.

I had no calibre as a child; I had to obtain the smarts as an adult.

Jane Eyre is written and subtitled as an autobiography of Charlotte Brontë, and it chronicles the abuse she and her sisters encountered through their lives (no spoilers). Compassion played a role because she sought to help and understand others, but was punished for her non-conformity. I'm sorry you ever felt lonely Korts. Loneliness is terribly painful and traumatic in its own way.

It would have been nice if Jane had recourse----if she had a mentor when she was young.

She did, briefly, but I can't say more.

Jane isn't on the moors but Isabella Linton (Wuthering Heights) is!

Of course......For some reason, I'm thinking Devonshire for Jane Eyre.

It's set in the north in fictitious towns, not in Devon. The manors can be correlated to those in Brontë's lifetime.

Hardy's work is often set in the south.

On my mind: I just saw Grover dancing

Grover was one with the dancing spirit.

At least, on Sesame Street, people are protective of him.

I know...it's a darn shame...an English major who hasn't read Jane Eyre! LOL

In my Chaucer class, the professor was stunned that I did so bad on the Middle English translation; he was surprised when I presented a decent paper on satire in the "Nun's Priest's Tale."
