Free Base cocaine morphing into the crack epidemic.
Hair Metal
Nuclear War fears

The Reagan Presidency
The Thacher Prime Ministership
The HIV epidemic

Pretty much everything not related to pop culture or music come to think of it.

Charlie Wilson was certainly one of the high points.

My understanding is that the African American community sees him as an uncle Tom too.

Lots of TV shows were pure crap, regardless of where it was produced. I visited my mom a few days ago and watched TV, MwC is still going strong on one channel - timeless classic.

I used to watch the Cosby show in the 80s but now can't see it without thinking about the nearly 500 hours Cosby spent raping unconscious women

Ok so he now has three rape convictions, all A felonies, and it looks like his only punishment will be that he will be confined to his palatial mansion for the remainder of his life. How does this happen, that a trice convicted rapist has zero chance of seeing the inside of a prison?

unlike Jimmy Savile, his main mistake [aside from being a sociopathic predator] was living too long. I am betting he is thinking that now. I wonder how his wife can stand him?

Money and other physical stuff is how his wife can stand him. Its the main thing that women get from a so called traditional marriage. Also I was wrong, based on what I've just read he may well go to prison. Hes 80. Wont last long among the general population...

When I saw Bill Cosby's old comedy routines, I didn't think they were at all funny. In fact, some of them were mean. They way he talked about his kids having "brain damage" wasn't at all funny, especially since his son had a learning disability. He also said something to the effect of, "You aren't what I ordered or wanted." I can't imagine anything more hurtful than that.

You were "different" and "weird" if you were into or even knew about New Wave songs like these

And post-punk tunes like these

And movies like this

A timeline of my special interests in the 1980s:

1980-81 Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita
1982 The Beatles
1983 Australian pop/rock singers and bands
1984 The Olympic Games

Countries I researched in detail in the 1980s: Spain, Argentina, Japan, Ethiopia and Greece

Spuds Mackenzie. He was a bull terrier and mascot of Bud Light beer during the late 80's. He appeared in the commercials dressed in jean jackets and sunglasses as "the ultimate party animal", where he had a lot of human girlfriends for some reason. He was popular with kids which caused controversy since it was like they were marketing alcoholic beverages to underage people. All I know is that the commercials were actually pretty weird and cringy. But back then I actually had a poster of him.

Also, he was really a girl. Lassie was a boy, the Taco Bell dog was a girl... why are so many animal actors the opposite sex of their characters? :?
