I'm so bad at being midwestern, it's been forever since I went to a county/state fair...

How do you trust those rickety old quick-assembly rides anyway though?

i don't. i haven't been on a ride since i was younger and dumber. i mainly take in the sights and sounds and smells, see the exhibits, get plenty of walking in the heat and humidity. i would love it if these things occurred later in the fall when it was reliably cooler outside.

Me too. I took my son to the park the other day to play Pokemon Go and it was hot and humid - we were both uncomfortable and left after 25 minutes. As I'm getting older I can't seem to handle humidity quite as much.

:sunny: You are correct! Ugh.
My ideal weather is less humidity, sunny, breezy.

it actually has been a relatively mild summer here [due to atmospheric filtration by soaring forest fire smoke] but the fair grounds act like a giant solar collector, all that blacktop with fencing all around. you might like central washington better, less humid for sure even as it is deserty hot. breezy.

I haven't been on a ride since I was a tween or young teen. We look around at various things when we go to the county fair & we do a bit of shopping. My girlfriend's into that stuff more than me but I buy some stuff for me every year besides food. I was a little disappointed this year cuz the guy selling collectable knives/blades wasn't there. I buy from him every year. I think the fair quit allowing knives/blades to be sold there. There's another place at the fair selling blades but they're heavy duty outdoors 1s so I always looked but never bought from them but that shop wasn't there this year either. There's also a place that sells things like jerky that also usually has a few knives/blades(I only bought from them last year) but they weren't selling blades this year. I guess I could of asked em why they weren't this year but didn't think about it & I had other stuff to focus on & plus I wouldn't of wanted to take too much of their time if I wasn't buying anything. I still managed to get a couple things for me this year thou.
The only other fair I've been to was a local one in the small unheard of town my parents live. The church used to do it but then the fire department took it over 1ce the church decided to stop. It was a fundraiser that was good for the community but the church quit letting the fire department use their property so the fair stopped. There were probably other reasons too but I don't know them. There wasn't much to do at that fair other than rides, games, & eat. I think it was done in the spring but it was so long ago since it stopped that I'm not sure.
I know what you mean about the heat & humidity. I hated it when I lived in Louisiana. At least it's a lot better here in Vermont but it can still be bad sometimes. It's usually good when we have the county fair thou which was a couple weeks ago.
