One of numerous problems inherent to counseling is that
"Actions speak louder than words". But the counselors job is to sit around flapping her stupid ass trap
The counselor has to give advice or sympathy . not much alternative
(Question, self disclosure, or insightful statements have their place. But usually that's just part of the process, not the end point)
Sympathy is much easier to give.
But if they give too little sympathy, the client keep complaining
Too much, and it's like, adrenal fatigue
You cant measure the correct amount of sympathy
And the correct amount is constantly changing
Like ,"price is Right,". Correct amount is the closest without going over
bakers dozen
The correct amount is the closest without going
under
Advice is harder to give
Sometimes you do the same thing in two situations and you get different results
If she gave bad advise, I could blame her for the outcome
If she gave good advice, then you need less counseling
The counselors field is the Diagnosic statistical manual. It is not relationship and emotions
Not many things fall neatly into the dam
Not even diagnosis themselves
So counselors job is to sit around flapping her trap about things she does not know any more about, than an average person
