just a note from an audio nerd for other audio nerds, it is a persistent historical rumor that none other than Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville [inventor of the phonautograph] recorded ol' Abe in the white house with his new invention, the phonautograph which could record [but not play back] audio.

^^^it was waiting for the right technology, another recording he made was played back [about 145 years after the recording was made] using digital signal processing of the waveform image burned into the paper cone recording medium, of another recording he made elsewhere.

as rare as elvis sightings in 2015.
