I prefer thin well done but will settle for thicker ones.

Just butter is fine but I do like to experiment too.

Garlic and cheese is nice on them.

Of course! How could I forget! Melted Cheshire cheese atop moist crumpets!

I play toaster roulette - the gamble between crispy outside and cremated.

I buy the cheapest ones because they are the thinnest, guaranteeing the most crunch and the best butter ratio. Fat crumpets are just wrong.

Pikelets are my favourite but they’re a rare breed - Tesco sell them but they’re more expensive than crumpets and you get less for your money so I resent paying more for less

I don't believe I have ever had those. I could go a breakfast roll now, although I had sausage at lunch. I regurgitated part of the sandwich - it happens almost daily. This should not be happening.

Have you folks gotten above freezing yet?

We just had a "Nor'easter." Over a million customers without power (which probably translates to around 2 million people. Not too many in NYC or Long Island, though. More impact to the northwest and northeast of the city.

Much of the impact was in Massachusetts, actually--Boston. And there was actually quite a bit of impact in the DC area. DC has been faring well this winter (as have we, after late January or so).

Yes! It is just above freezing today and we are due to up to 7 C tomorrow with rain.

You will feel that many of your sorrows have "melted."

That's the sensation I feel when it finally gets above freezing after a cold snap.

We had a doozy of a cold snap late December/early January. There was a 30 cm snowstorm mixed in there.

It was like that here the last few days.
I was sat in a blizzard defrosting that bloody pipe with a hairdryer.

It is a weight lifted indeed.

Now to get the car sorted out.
It never ends.

There is no snow here whatever. None. Not a smidgeon.

I just leased a new car. It's an orange-red Hyundai Tucson.

What's wrong with your car, Temeraire?

Crumpets are definitely not English muffins, though they look like them somewhat.

English muffins are somewhat hard-textured (but good). Crumpets seem to be rather soft-textured.

You were lucky.
It is usually colder up north so we copped it for a change.

My mum told me we may not be out of the woods yet and could get another cold spell.
Yeah, ma cheer me up with another will you.

My car has a flat battery and the bonnet cable is knackered too.
It is overstretched. Just like me.

Would a new battery solve the problem?

I once carried a battery about a mile for some girl who later turned out to only want me for my credit card (I didn't have a credit card at the time).
