Same here. Just wouldn't be the same. But they did do a 3 part Easter special a couple of years ago, and kept the same cast for that. So hopefully any new series will continue to have the same cast.

I'm curious - when and how did you discover Red Dwarf? As I said, I discovered it on Netflix a few days ago. As of this writing I'm only on episode 7 of series 1 (though by the time I go to bed I will probably be at 10 or 11), but I can already tell that it will be a new obsession of mine. New obsessions always "click" immediately with me like that. What about you?

I just sort of grew up with it really. It's quite popular in England anyway, so many people have heard of it over here, and my brother used to watch it quite a bit when I was a kid. So I just used to watch it with him.

As for my obsessiveness, it's not as strong as it was when I was a kid, and lately I haven't been very obsessive with all that much. Just had many mini-obsessions I suppose. But I think I've found a new special interest recently. And seeing as I've already stayed up until 4:30am playing the banjo.... Well, I think that says a lot. But my obsessions tend to 'creep up on me' slowly, and gradually become more intense.

Wasn't it the other way round? Red Dwarf started in the late 1980s didn't it? Robot wars and Takeshi's castle weren't around till the 90s.

I'm happy that it's well known in the UK! Unfortunately it's not as well known here in the US. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if I'm the only person in Idaho who has even heard of it! Same with Doctor Who (well, actually an acquaintance of mine at the bank knows about it because his mom is English). Y'know how they have conventions for Americans who like Japanese stuff? Well, I think there should be cons for people who like stuff from the UK! I know that there are a few Doctor Who cons in some states, but all I'm saying is that I wish Anglophiles had more conventions like the Japanophiles. :)

Ah I get you now. Strangely enough, I feel really wide awake at the moment. I like it when daylight occurs after I've been up all night. It reminds me of when people in zombie movies 'make it through the night'. Also a bit like in The Evil Dead.

It is a widely believed theory, yes.
